The epi isn't that bad wen it goes in they give u a numbing shot frist and u don't feel a thing and the contractions will take the pain away from the needle also but i had an bad experience with epis with my frist and second pregnancy the epi did not work for me :( both times I'm just prone to the numbing stuff just like the novacain that the dentists give u i got to have two shots of that :( but i felt every thing it was like i never got the epi and usauly wen u get the epi its hard to walk after cuz ur legs get numb but cuz it didn't work for me i walked to the bathroom litteraly right after the baby came out i had to go soooo bad lol so this time I'm going all natural cuz no point getting the epi if it don't work for me lol but i hope it works for u good luck to u and ur bundle of joy :)

They hid the epidural needle from me. I was planning on doing an all natural birth but I dilated to fast and my body was going into shock so I had to get it. It didn't hurt at all but my anesthesiologist was absolutely amazing and knew what he was doing.

this is just my opinion but since I have been going to birthing classes and I have also been wanting to go all natural I learned about both and I have to say before the classes I thought about having an epi but now that I learned a lot I wont be getting one. during the early stage of labor 0-3cm you wont be in that much pain you will feel contractions and it will be somewhat painful but also manageable the active phase is going to be 4-7 that's when women tend to get the epidural but if you get to that stage and can manage it I don't recommend getting it bc most likey you will be able to continue the rest of the labor without it transition phase is 8-10cm that's the most painful but also shortest time for labor once you start to push women say it feels like a big relief and have less and less pain from there on out plus I learned and epidural can cause you to not feel the urge to push and it casues labor to be longer and more difficult again all women and pregnanacys are diff and this is just what I learned but after hearing this info this is what im decideing on doing hope to help somewhat sorry for such a long comment goodluck:) as for the epi itself I hear once you need it if that's what you decide you will most likely not feel it other than maybe a buirning sensation
