So, to make a long story short, me and my hubby were picking out names, and we cant decide between these two names for a girl. We have even asked a few close family members, but we still cant come up with a decision, so we want to see what one is more popular with votes, so we are trying to get as many votes as possible! :) Thank you!
I like Ellie! I was called Ellie when i was in middle school and part of high school until everyone got the pronunciation right that is was ELLE (( L ))! But i got used to it.
Did you know Ellie Mae was the name of the daughter on that show the hillbillies? lol. Its still cute tho! I like it better than Brinley.
thank you everyone for voting and your input! i really appreciate it! Keep the voting up! lol me and the hubby want to try to get at least 100 votes if we can! that way we have a good round number with a good percentage to what name is the best lol :)
As much as I love the ring to Ellie Mae, I can't help but associate the name with "The Beverly Hillbillies;" Jed Clampett's daughter's name was Elly May. A lot of people don't even know "The Beverly Hillbillies" anymore, though...it's a pretty old show.
Anyway, I also really like Brinley. It's very cute and very original. But I like the combination of Brinley Mae better than when it's used with Marie. ☺
yeah, i was gonna say Ellie Mae sounds kinda hillbilly (because of the show lol) Ellie is a cute name but maybe Ellie Marie....i still really like Brinley though, but im the same as Audrey...i like Brinley Mae.
Thanks everyone! Who knew this could be such a tough choice! lol I love both names too :) And I think whatever name we choose will have my middle name marie :) But, I just wish I could get the hubby to love the name Brinley as much as I do lol I think he might be warming up to it tho :) I just love it because it is unique and I know nobody else would have that name in her class, but wow, I am really surprised that the names are pretty tied in votes! lol
Ellie Mae is cute but it immediately brings to mind The Beverly Hillbillies, atleast for me. I voted for Brinley Marie becuase it's not a common name and I can't think of any assocations that could be used to make fun of the name :)
however, the name carries a certain "stigma" with it. Trust me, as I am Cindy Lou. I just use Cindy, but once people know my middle name is Lou, it is game on for all the hillbilly & Grinch jokes.
I'm sure no matter what name we pick for our children, some kid is going to find a way to make fun of it. My daughters name is Anna. She actually thought her middle name was "bananna" until a few months ago.
I like the name Ellie. It sounds sweet. Brinley seems a little "trendy" for my taste. I like the classic, yet less common names.
