Not sure if its twins or not

I went to the doctor at 7 weeks and had an ultrasound done...there were two embryos 2 weeks later i went to a nonprofit organization and they gave me another ultrasound i saw only one baby. Then i went to a different dr who i will see on a regular and he said he only hears one heartbeat and my uterus measures about right. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting and i still have that gut feeling that it is still 2 i feel like something is wrong with the other but its there. Now at 11 weeks i have sharp pains in lower abdomen and on my sides especially my left side.  The Dr. mentioned vanishing twin syndrome to me but i believe in God and at the first ultrasound i believed he blessed me with twins. i knew it was twins before i had an ultrasound they just confirmed it for me. My dr. is very sensitive about it because him and his wfie have had this so called vanishing twin syndrome twice. I believe I'm still pregnant with twins and the other invisble one doesn't want me to give up.  Can anybody tell me what's really going on?

I believe in God, too, but that doesn't mean that awful things don't happen to us (not His fault by the way!). Vanishing Twin Syndrome is a very likely explanation. It is actually not as uncommon as we think! The only reason doctors know of it is when it is caught early on in pregnancy and then later sonograms show only one baby.

They say many left-handed people are the result of being a twin. Interesting fact to throw in there...

Anyway, it is possible that if there is a 2nd baby, it could be hiding behind the other. Try getting another ultrasound done when baby is a little bigger to see if there is another fetus.

Hmm...cant they check your HCG levels to see if they are extremely high for as far along as you are?

I went in at five and halp weeks and they saw two sacs.  One had a yolk and the other had nothing.  They said it was probably a twin that didn't make it and absorbed into my body.
