OMG! DS2 drank cologne

UGGH! So DS2 was in his room with his brother, I heard them in there playing, then all of the sudden it got quiet so I asked where he was.  Everyone says "I don't know", next thing I know he comes running out of MY room coughing and promptly throws up as he's running down the hall.  I'm like OMG what'd he get into.  I go in my room and my bed sheets are cut to shreds, apparently he found a pair of scissors that I hadn't seen in months.  Then I find an empty bottle of cologne on the bed!!!  Fortunately it was a small trial size bottle.

Of course I called poison control.  He said he should be fine that most likely he spit out most of it and threw up most of it, so what's left in his system won't cause any harm.  He said it may lower his blood sugar and make him feel icky so I should give him something sweet to eat and drink. Then I just have to watch him for an hour or so.  They are gonna call me back and check on him then.  But if he starts getting overly tired I need to take him to the hospital.

He's actually acting a little wired!  Sheesh, toddlers!  DH and I JUST had the conversation about whether or not he could reach on top of DH's dresser.  I said he could, DH said he couldn't...well, I guess he CAN!

On the plus side, my house smells good!

LOL!  Yeah, that sounds like my kids.  I've had 2 climbers.  My oldest never did any of that stuff, but my middle two have. DD7 tried to eat snails when she was about 18 months (EWW) Her and DS2 both figure out the child proof things just about as fast as I can put them up.  When DD7 was about 2 we had those safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. It took her a whopping two days to figure out how to open them, so we had to child proof the child proof gates LOL, I had to put ANOTHER lock on it and the only reason she couldn't open it is simply becuase her hands weren't strong enough, she knew how.

Yeah, all things considered I think we're doing pretty good.  Out of 5 kids (ages 14 down to 9 mos) we've only had 3 stitches for a busted chin and 1 broken pinky toe, plus a small puncture wound from a nail and now this. All in all it could be far worse :)

Oh and the fridge thing, that made me laugh.  DS2 sneaks into the fridge and steals bologna.  He also likes to take my eggs but fortunately has only broken a couple.  One in the hall and one in the kitchen.

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Cass that's awful, but awful in that I'm laughing with you kinda way...lol.

Kahlan isn't so nearly destructive or self-harming but omg she gets into everything so I can totally relate.

Give yourself a hug for me, OK? Hope he's doing better today...what do his farts smell like? ;-)

Seeing this post made me feel a little better about my toddler who has done similar things. Couple months ago my husband left ear drops down so of course my son decided to drink some! Poison control was very helpful and told me he would be fine and at the very worst he would puke. My son hasn't gotten a hold of scissors but he has gotten the nail clippers and put small wholes in my shirts. Everyone I've talked to said if that's the worst he ever does then I'm lucky. He also has a bad habit of getting into the fridge in the middle of the night and egging my livingroom! Baby proofing for my son is near impossible since hes a climber and can reach anything no matter how high up it goes. He's also very smart and child locks don't do much except stop him for about 5min before he figures it out. There should be a forum on destructive or curious toddlers. :)
