That would be from the brush that you use since it can cause static and anything that she wears or may get close to will just stick like glue to her hair. I understand what you mean by the suave detangler, I did not think about that since she has darker hair. I cannot stand when they leave a greasy film in the hair. I have that problem as well.
Oh, stay away from the smothing creams since they will definitely cause her hair to look greasy. I just looked at the bottle of detangler that I use and since my skin is so sensitive; it is called Breck detangler. We actually get it at the dollar store. Another thing that I use that I swear by and does not make my hair greasy and especially keeps my hair from being frizzy is called loreal Studio Sedated Downright Smooth super smoothing spray for Curl/Frizz control. The reason probably not to use adult shampoos or conditioners is to use products that are tear free. The adult brands will get into her eyes and burn.
Now, as far as a good brush to use. Try to find a brush that have the plastic bristles that are farther apart. Do not use a brush that uses hair like substances since they will cause more static in her hair.
I just know what you are going through since I have struggled with my hair since I was your daughters age. Thank goodness my son has hair like his Uncle on his dads side. His hair is thick and he has so much of it. Hopefully some of this info helped. If you need a picture of the comb and brush that I use don't hesitate to ask. I do have a camera that hooks to my computer and can send it to you very easily. God Bless JoyRenee
I didn't realize I could use adult shampoos and products on her hair. I'm NOT savvy when it comes to beauty products at all so thanks for all the suggestions!
We do have a children Suave detangler but I don't like it- it makes her hair feel and look greasy.
She also gets LINT or fibers stuck in her hair when it tangles but I have no idea where that stuff comes from because I wash her sheet/pillowcase constantly and vacuum all the time. WEIRD!!! Do any of your curly-haired people get that? Or even know what I mean?
My daughter and bf other daghter has curly hair as well. My daughter's hair isn't as thick as her step sisters but almost as curley. We use tresime( sorry I don't know how it's spelled but it's that conditioner in the comericials that they holler and moan about lol) there's some expecially for curls. It makes their hair so soft and healthy. My daughters step sister's mom usually picks her hair out with a pick and puts it up for the rest of the day. When you put the hair up alot it doesn't get as nappy. Hope that helps some.
I was just getting ready to reply about Sunsilk. My hopefully someday sister in law swears by it for her super curly hair.
Sunsilk makes some good products for curls....My oldest has MASSIVELY curly hair...and brushing it makes it frizz into a giant poofy afro. She uses a wide tooth comb and a pick. Uses mousse and gel and then wraps the curls around her finger and scrunches it some then lets it dry a bit and tops off with hairspray....a bit much for a two year old. One thing I found when she was little was that immediately after she got out of the shower i towel dried her hair...put in some leave in conditioner and braided her hair for the night.
My parents used a pick on my hair when I was younger. I now use a wide tooth comb but only brush it with one of those "ouchless" brushes when I am conditioning it in the shower. Brushing it anyother time really makes my hair break for some reason. No More Tangles works great as a leave-in conditioner and detangler. If you comb it while it's still damp, it will hold the curls better once dry. Combing when it's dry is when it becomes so frizzy and unruly. My hair is THICK and CURLY and this is the only way it works for me.
I agree. use a pick or fingers to tame it. frizzease is WONDERFUL!. :) It will allow her to have those beautiful curls without damaging them!
oh forgot to say one thing. Your daughter is adorable.
They make a spray conditioner for children that I use in my hair since I have curly hair and get lots of tangles. It is made by suave and comes in different types like watermelon or apple. I love it. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. I also use a really wide comb to comb thru it. i spray it then comb thru it. I also while in the shower or bath while shampooing and conditioning run a brush or comb thru it while stil washing it. It really helps with the tangles. Suave also has kids shampoo with detangler all in one and it works great.
Oh, frizzease makes a great leave in frizz cream that really works great if you have to blow dry it. Make sure that when you dry it you scrunch it as you go.
Hope this helps.
Well I have to brush her hair somehow because she gets major tangles. Her hair isn't baby fine but thicker. I'll try a leave-in conditioner and a different comb!
My niece has super long (butt length) corkscrew curls and my sister brushes them out everyday, she just douses her hair in leave in conditioner and brushes it from the bottom up.
Both of my little boys had exactly the same curls. I found that johnson and johnson makes a great shampoo for curly hair and has a spray leave in conditioner... it is easiest to brush from the bottom of the curl up!
I have curly hair and NEVER brush it. I run my fingers through it when I'm applying my frizzy cream after I shower but that's it. Then I work the cream through each section and wrap each curl around my finger to help it bounce. I follow up with mousse and other products...but my daughter's fine baby hair responds well to just a leave in frizz cream. I run it through her hair after bath and sort of 'scrunch' her hair...but I don't brush it. :) Hope that helps!
When I was young I had a pick. You could also get one of the combs with really wide teeth. something that will brush it in clumps, I guess, instead of strands. You could also find some leave in conditioners. I also wouldnt use a brush while wet, use the comb or pick instead. I love the curls!!!
there is some leave in conditioner out there for kids for snarls and really curly hair maybe Google it i know my aunt had to use it on my cousins cause of there hair good luck
