Odd mother?

My mother has been acting very strange during my pregnancy. Calling my unborn daughter "ours" and saying things like how worried she is and maybe she should quit her job because she won't be able to handle MY baby. Keep in mind I do not live with her so I am not exactly sure what she will be doing or how my baby will have such an inconvenience or impact on her. She also wants me to bring my newborn who is due at the end of December to her house. When I politely stated that I will not be taking my daughter out for unnecessary reasons such as the cold or introducing her to new germs it's also a long drive to her house she was not understanding and got upset. I really don't understand how she can be so disrespectful about my parenting style and my choices. Meaning I obviously do not want to take my newborn out if I don't have to especially in the cold or out of the house to possibly catch something. Is anyone else's mother like this??

Yeah, I think its so hard for them sometimes to go from mum to grandma. It did get a bit easier when baby was born because she had to wait to be offered to handle the baby and wait to be invited over but at the same time inwould call her when I wanted to ask something or was worried about something so I guess through setting boundaries she learnt what her role was and that she wasn't going to miss out. We gave a lot better relationship this time round. Hang in there!

Hopefully mine calms down too. I just don't know what to do with her anymore she's so sensitive anything I say she gets so offended I can't even talk to her anymore and yet she was the one telling me I have to stay home the first few weeks and I agree now she wants me to visit as much as possible

Mine was a little bit like that for a while. It was like everytime I wanted to do something different to how she did it she took it as a bit of a personal criticism of the way she raised me. She calmed down after I showed her how much things have changed since she had a newborn.
