when your pregnant your cervix moves back up, has a softer feel to it and closes up tightly. but usually this doesnt happen til around the time of your missed period. unless your used to what your cervix feels like, it might be hard to tell the differnce.

Checking your cervical position - basically you check it everyday, same time, same position.  I checked mine in the morning while sitting on the toilet.  Trying not to be TMI here, but basically I sat on the toilet and used my middle finger to feel for my cervix.

Cycle days 1-10: usually your cervix is low and feels like the tip of your nose
Cycle days 11-15: usually by now your cervix is starting to move upwards and will start to feel soft, when it feels like your lips pursed together you are starting to get ready to ovulate - the higher up it is and harder to reach, also means close to ovulating.
Cycle days 16-28: cervix should start to come down again and get hard, like touching the tip of your nose.

Obviously the cycle days are just an estimate, but hopefully you get the idea.  As for CM, I never got any and still got pregnant!  Also, from what I have read - when you have the egg white CM, you will USUALLY ovulate about 36 hours later.
