Actually it is quite common for a doctor to prescribe Propranolol tablets during the first few weeks of treatment after overactive thyroid has been diagnosed.  From a medical website, regarding treatment of overactive thyroid:

"Beta-blockers may be used in the first few weeks; these drugs quieten down the symptoms of the overactive thyroid, by blocking the adrenaline-like effects of thyroid hormones. Propranolol tablets are the most frequently used."

It is likely your doctor will follow up with you in the coming weeks and monitor your levels and decide what to do after that.  Once your thyroid levels are under control, you chances of conceiving will greatly improve.

Thetam01~ Levothyroxine, and Synthroid are both for HypOthyroidism. my son is on Levoxyl (same med... diff name).... :)

but nana~ I agree... they should've given you a THYROID med. If they get your thyroid under control you can get pregnant. you should be able to healthily. :)

i thought propanolol is a cardiac/bloodpressure med (i'm surprised they didnt give u levothyroxine or synthroid0 the average person tsh needs to be below 4 but a woman trying to concieve should be below 2 and it doesnt take long with the meds to get your thyroid under control good luck
