P!SSED OFF!!!

Some of you may have seen my post about not seeing the dr for three weeks. My last appointment was last Tuesday at 35 weeks 5 days, and they called the next day with my next appointment. It was set for Dec 1...well I talked to the nurse a few minutes ago, and apparently the dr is ok with a three week gap and ok with me not seeing her again til I'm 38 weeks 5 days...AND ok with not checking my blood pressure, not checking my measurements, not checking anything at all including to see if I'm dilating or effacing, and I won't be getting a membrane sweep until at least then...NOT that any of it matters cause I know I'll only go into labor when my body is ready...BUT I would like to do what I can to help things if possible since this is a VBAC, OH and by the way, now I've got to call and set up an appointment with OB to see if they'll LET ME DO A VBAC, AFTER the dr has already said there's no problem with me trying one since DS being breech was the ONLY reason I had a c-section...NICE. Not only do I NOT see my dr for another two and a half weeks, BUT now I don't know for sure if they'll let me try a VBAC...

My dr is *supposed* to be delivering the baby, but it's kind of a "whoever is on call" situation I guess...I'm not sure how it works at a military hospital, with my son my OB didn't deliver him a surgeon did. SO I don't know what's gonna happen now...the nurse just told me to tell the nurses in L&D I want to attempt a vbac when I get there...

Thats how is went for me! Second pregnancy and first vbac. My first OB app. was just the consult as well. Will your dr. be delivering baby? I know my dr. wouldnt!
How old is your first? I know that the more time after a c section the better your chances are.
I found in the case of all of this that I had to basically freak out on everyone I was dealing with to just get them to hear me!

Thanks for sharing your story. My only problem is the OB is just for a consult. My dr is a family practice dr, and I don't see her again until Dec 1...I honestly think it's ridiculous that I'm waiting so long to see her again, last week she said she wanted to see me again this week, I wanted to get checked every week until I have the baby to see if I'm dilating or effacing any...this is just irritating. I don't get why she would be ok with waiting three weeks to see me when I'm so close to the end...I mean, I understand nothing is wrong, everything looks good etc...but who knows what could happen in a weeks time? This is my second pregnancy and first VBAC...I don't know what to expect, I can read a million stories from other women but that doesn't mean mine will be like any of them. I just don't see how my dr can tell me she wants to see me in a week and then say ok, three weeks instead of one....

PS...
With everything that happened with me I went 4 weeks without seeing a dr.! So because I was concerned I went to the hospital and told them baby was moving! They hooked me up to check baby and checked me for dilation and effacement.
By the way, the attempt part is bull! They will keep saying that and you wont be able to be inducing medically at all and they will only let you go so far passed you due date but other then that stand your grown about the vbac!! I had to!! Also when you go into the hospital the nurse is going to ask a ton of question tell her EVERYTHING you do and dont want!!

I had very similar problems! I had a vbac as well, it started with my family fr. then I was sent to an OB but not until I was 36 weeks. He then referred me back to my fma dr! Then my dr. said he was not seeing me anymore... I just ended up making an app. and seeing another dr. in the clinic I go to. In the end everything turned out ok but it was very stressful and annoying!
I felt exactly the same as you!! Its not fun!!

At no point in time can they tell you, you have to have another c section! Unless your life or babys life is in danger!
So basically this is what should happen... You will see your OB (providing you dont go into labor early) he/she will talk to you about the risks and tell you all this stuff, he will check you and do a routine app. he/she will tell you what you need to do when you go into labor, then book you another app. or an non stress test.
Make should you ask a lot of questions!!!!!! I can stress that enough!!! If he doesnt tell you something you want to know ask, take the time from now until your app. to make a list of all the questions you have!!

Here's how my labor went....
At 7am Sept. 10 I felt some pains but didnt think it was labor because it felt NOTHING like my first labor! They were almost painless! I waited to call the OB office until about 11-12 (the RN at the OB office is usually helpful, not nice but they can answer your questions!) I was told to go in that second, that I should have been there when the contractions first started! Because its a vbac and they want to monitor you...
Anyway I got off the phone with the nurse and took about an 1-2 hours to eat a whole bag of bagels and a box of fruit loops, I was starving for some reason. We then dropped our son off at the MIL's and went to the hospital. Everything from there went very fast! But my OB was great, he was very hard on me which I probably needed. They will monitor you, you may be able to get out of bed (ask about it) and thats about it.
My daughter was born about 45 min.s after they broke my water and I was in the hospital for a total of 12 hours start to finish!

I drank a lot of red raspberry leaf tea! Look into it, I would definitely recommend it!!!!!!! *
If you have anything you would like to ask me or talk about feel free to message me!!

The nurse just called back and said I can tell them I want to attempt a VBAC and before they can do a c-section they HAVE to have my permission and I have to sign papers...which makes me feel a little better, but still...I want to know if I'm dilating or effacing, and what's going on in there. The dr didn't even measure my tummy last time I was in there, last week...

They can't force you to have a c-section. You the right to refuse.
Go to the ICan website and do your research http://www.ican-online.org/vbac/home

I'm sorry you are not getting better care and attention from your provider. Keep bugging them!

I've already called twice to confirm all this, I just left ANOTHER message with the nurse...it's not just them not knowing their @ss from a hole in the ground, it's that *I* don't know what's gonna happen. I want to know if I go into labor BEFORE the OB consult appointment, are they gonna tell me I *HAVE* to have a c-section, or am I going to just be able to walk in there contracting and attempt a VBAC, what are they gonna do? This is what's irritating me so bad about having these appointments so far away. I've never attempted a VBAC, I've only been going to this hospital for a few months, I don't know all of their policies, the dr hasn't talked to me about all of it yet, so I'm freakin clueless....

I'm sorry you are going through this. My OB office sounds similar and it sometimes feels like they dont know their @ss from their elbow. I once went in at 21 weeks and the nurse was like "so your only 18 weeks along....." I was like NOOO I am 21!! Then she said she grabbed the wrong chart. Really? Yes, pregnancy can definitely stir up some of those unwanted hormones. I would relax first and then call the office again to confirm the information. That way the next time you go in you wont be known as the crazy pregnant lady haha Let us know how it goes.

OH and I called to set up my OB consult for a possible VBAC and the receptionist asked if I'm pregnant...

and then asked a minimum of three times how many weeks I am...

then asked when the dr was trying to schedule my c-section?!?! WHAT THE ****????

I'M NOT TRYING TO HAVE A C-SECTION!!!! If it wasn't dangerous, this baby girl would be born in my bathroom, in my home with a d@mn midwife!!!

You're supposed to avoid stress when you're pregnant, and right now I am in tears thinking that I might have to have a c-section again...

My OB referral appointment isn't until Nov 30, 9 days before I'm due...these people really need to get their SH*T together. I don't know what's gonna happen now if I go into labor before I have this appointment...I don't know what they're gonna do...
