Percocet during the First Trimester

I have been prescribed percocet to maintain my arthritis pain and I am only 6 weeks pregnant.  Is this really safe?  The prescription says 1-2,  3 times daily.  I have been talking 2-3 in a 24 hour period.  I am assuming less is better in this case?

thank you, I am SO scared.  This is obviously my first and I just pray that everything is okay!  The wait for the first ultrasound seems to take forever!  I know I will probably relax then, but I have had other doctors that I should stay away from percocet.  Confusing, huh?  Last Sunday I didn't take any, and I was in tears all night from my pain.  I don't know what is worse.

Less is definitely better in this case.  I was taking Vicodin when I was pregnant with my second son for dental surgery and everything turned out fine.  I would suggest only taking it when it's absolutely necessary and try to substitute with Ibuprofen b/c it's an anti-inflammatory.  Hope this helps.
