no...i was on pitocin when i was induced with my son....i delivered him in 10 hours from the time it started....it all depends how fast they drip it into your system
Thats what im worried about....the hospital I go to is known for c-sections....although I know some that have had vaginal deliveries....but im just concerned that if thats the route I have to take...if im not progressing as they'd like me too they probly will up it ....which can put the baby in distress..that all leads to a c-section., ive heard how it can take a couple days....and that it is more painful....that means they probly wont just break my water.... I wish these hospitals werent soo much into making money and more into letting nature take its course rather than intervening when they dont need to.......... Im just really praying this baby comes all on his own!!!!!!!!
For me it took about a day to finally kick in. I had to be induced with my first son and we were at the hospital at 11am, well from 11am until the next day at 8am nothing changed I was still 2cm dilated, and the nurse had to keep upping the pitocin but still nothing, finally at 8am the next day my Dr decided to break my water, and still kept me on the pitocin after my water broke it only took until 4:30pm that same day before I was finally dilated to 10cm and could push, I pushed for 16 min and at 4:50pm my son was born! I have no idea what is going to happen this time around though. I did want a natural birth but my contractions were so intense after I made it to 5cm I couldn't take the pain any more and had to get an epidural, I really think that the pitocin made my contractions 100x worse.
oh wow..... I was wondering bc I want to go natural.....so I'd rather have my water broken first and then see how labor progresses from there..... if it progresses then obv i dont need it but if it does... soooo idk if they would break my water first..... crossing fingers and toes that everything happens on its own and I wont need to be induced!!
To kick in, you mean?
In my experience, no....but it can take awhile for contractions to become strong and regular. When I gave birth in January, it took 3 hours of being on it and the nurses turning it up at regular intervals after having had my water broken, before I got into "true" labour.
I know someone whose induction took about 24 hours. So....it can take awhile, I guess!
