Plan B taken but unexplained bleeding week after

I started my period on the sixth of this month, had unprotected sex on the 12th (the day after my period was over).  My cycle is on average 23 days. I took the plan b pill less than 24 hours after the unprotected sex.  It's now about a week later and I'm bleeding-very light flow kinda brownish pink in color. I'm scared it may be implantation bleeding.  I'm also having other symptoms of pregnancy such as fatigue, breast tenderness, some cramping, but these are also side effects of plan b, but are supposed to only last for the two days you took the pills....I think.  What is the possibility of me being pregnant?
Thank you Doctor

Ending a pregnancy after a baby is conceived is abortion

I would like to point out that Plan B is not an abortion pill. It is merely meant to PREVENT pregnancy. As abortion means to abort (or expel) the fetus in question from the womb, it therefore stands to reason that there must first be a fetus to abort.

Plan B is intended to prevent ovulation, thus preventing sperm from joining with an egg. It is, for all intents and purposes, just a higher dosage of the birth control that women can be prescribed from their doctors (which essentially just makes the body think it is pregnant to prevent it from dropping its eggs).

Many people mix up Plan B with Ru 486, which IS meant to carry out an abortion.

I didn't mean to come off rudely if I was the girl you were refering to. I just wanted to make sure that you know all the facts before taking it. I am not against abortion, I personally never would but I'm not living in someone elses shoes so cannot say what is best for them. Like I said, I just wanted people to be informed that Plan B's purpose is to abort anything in the uterus and make it so a embryo can not implant.
I may only be 18 but having taken sex-ed for three years that taught only STI's and birth control methods I know what each and every birth control does, and how it works.

I agree about Plan B being an early abortion pill. I'm %100 against it, I'm married, so maybe that's got something to do with it, since this was a suprise but not a bad one. I'm 15weeks.
but even when we were just dating, If I'd have gotten pregnant I'd never have taken it. It's a sore subject among some groups of ppl (christians, catholics, etc).. I personally don't believe in ANY form of abortion unless the mother's life is in danger. I think if its a product of rape or something, that the baby should be given up for adoption. (I have someone in my extended family who's a product of rape)  I know this is OT but it does relate to the post.
However, I agree.. It's your choice, and you yourself need to be sure you know the facts on the birth control/prevention your taking before you get uppity. That girl said it rudely, but it is abortion if the sperm and egg do meet. Altho... Clots wouldn't be the baby, it would be the lining of the uterus since the embryo is too tiny to even see after 1 week. (about the size of the . on this sentence.)

(p.s. I'm 21 and sure as heck know what I'm talking about. You got it right  Crysi)

I just want to point out that the Plan B is basically an early abortion pill, making your body rid itself of the uterine lining and anything in it, and making it unlivable (so a baby could not implant) so if you are having lots of clotting and heavy bleeding it very well could be your body naturally aborting an ebryo. Which would in turn mean that the Plan B pill is doing its job, If you are against abortion then look into birthcontrol, maybe buy a box of condoms. There are lots of options that don't need parental approval, and you are 19. If you feel you are old enough and mature enough to be having sex then you should be mature enough to tell your parents. I am 18 and my parents know I'm having sex with my boyfriend/fiance.

well since this isnt the first time it has happened..i suggest birth control pills and make sure the dude wears a condom, then you wont have to worry about getting pregnant if you are taking the precautions :)

You are bleeding most likly because you just aborted a baby. With the Plan B pill it makes your womb a hostile eniviornment causing your uterus to have a period.

What you can do is go to planned parenthood. They have a program that allows teens to get onto birth control for free and its confidential so they won't tell your parents.

today the flow is heavier. My period was due about the 5th of april. maybe it is my period since plan b makes it earlier, I dunno. but I'll definately take a test regardless. and yes I've been planning on getting some birth control.  its just that I live at home, (I'm 19) and my parents are nazi's haha so I'll do the best that I can. maybe abstinence is the best for me, since this isn't the first time its happened.
thank you :)

When I would take the Plan B pill I would spot. It was never within 2 days that I took the pill but rather a week before my period would be due. Also it can cause pregnancy symptoms but so can a coming cycle. Plan B is 85% effective so the odds of you getting pregnant off of it are very slim with you taking it within 24 hours. However, I got pregnant after taking Plan B about 36 hours later. The only thing you can really do is wait until your period is due and if it doesn't come then take a test. Also Plan B can mess up your cycle so don't be worried if it comes a little early or a little late. You might also want to think of getting onto some type of birth control since Plan B isn't good for your body.
