Please help! Do preggy pops & sea bands really work?

My morning sickness has been out of control these past 3 days. I am 7 weeks today and it just started 3 days ago. I vomited 7 times this morning while trying to get ready for work. It got to the point that there was nothing left in me to throw up so I was straining and straining which was causing a horrible burning feeling from the stomach acid. I'm nervous about becoming dehydrated or throwing up blood. Around 9 a.m. it seems to subside and then returns around 3 p.m. and lasts until I go to bed.

I need help. I have tried eating crackers before getting out of bed, sipping gingerale, eating small meals/ snacks throughout the day and it's not helping. I hate the thought of going to bed at night because I know what the morning will bring. I've just been absolutely miserable.

My boss told me to try preggy pops and sea bands. Has anyone used either and does it help? How often can you wear the sea bands?

Any other advice?

Thank you for all the tips! I am wearing the seabands today and have been sucking on lemon drops all day.
Also, before I even lifted my head off my pillow this morning I had some cracker barrel cheese slices ... mmmm..lol. The M/S was not as bad  today as it was yesterday. So hopefully it will stay this way.

i was sick all day everyday for the first 17 weeks of my pregnancy and was completley miserable..i tried the preggy pops and ate them all the time...they helped me a little bit but the sourness of them gave me heart burn...which in turn made me nauseous. i was just about to try the seabands when magically one day my morning sickness wasnt as bad and i could tolerate it and i just worked through it. i found that forcing myself to drink something sugary in the morning and eating a breakfast with a lot of protein (like sausage) really helped.
p.s. i normally love ginger ale and anything ginger but while i had morning sickness it just made it waaay worse for me.
also just go with your cravings right now. dont worry about trying to be too nutritious..just eat whatever sounds good whenever you can.

seabands worked for me! I wasn't completely nausea free, but like the other ladies said it helps a LOT. and yes if the vomiting is too severe you definitely should consider meds, because they are fairly safe. I've taken them sporadically with both pregnancies.

I didn't read all of the comments, but I know how you feel.  Preggo pops are the ONLY thing I didn't try this last go round.  You may want to speak to your doctor.  There are very safe meds you can take.  I actually had to be in the hospital w/ this last pregnancy during the first trimester to get rehydrated.  It was awful.  It lasted until about my 15th or 16th week.  Jolly Ranchers tend to help a little bit.  I don't know why but they do.  I also drank a Ginger/Peach tea that helped some.  It is made by The Republic of Tea and of course you can drink it hot or cold.  Peppermint ice cream may help some.  At least it's a way to get some nourishment while you are going through this.

The meds that I know of are Phenergan and Zofran.  Phenergan makes you really sleepy though.  Zofran is what I would go w/.  I didn't think it helped me at all but I noticed one day when I didn't take it, I threw up a lot more so it must have at least helped me w/ that part, but not w/the nausea.  The only problem w/ that one is that it constipates you.  But Benefiber is safe to take while pregnant.  You can also take stool softeners to help counteract whatever it is in Zofran that causes the constipation.

I would def speak to your doctor though.  Don't let yourself get dehydrated!  Take care and I am so sorry.  I know this part if awful and it seems like it lasts an eternity while you are going through it.  I just couldn't wait to feel better.  I told DH that when I did, we were going to the biggest buffet in town!!!

You can also get ginger candy, or ginger snaps to snack on. Its the ginger in ginger ale that's supposed to help, so make sure you're getting ginger ale with real ginger in it, not just flavoring.

I've done both! WIth DS I used the preggie pops and anything sour seemed to help. This time around, sour stuff didn't do a thing and I tried the Seabands. They helped make it a little more bearable. I also did a lot of peppermint and wintergreen mint candy. I bought bulk bags of the mint lifesavers lol!! I was sick all day everyday until about 13wks with both....Hope this helps!!!

Thank you for the advice. I actually take my prenatal right before bed and they haven't made me sick yet. I will try the peppermint candy.

Thanks again

I have never used either, but I did have someone suggest the seaband to me.  She said that it didn't take away her nausea but made it much easier to deal with.  You can also try sucking on peppermint candy.  That helped me a lot with my last pregnancy.  Also if you take your prenatal in the AM, trying taking it right after lunch.
