Pre-Labour? Ideas?

Wondering if there is such thing as pre-labour signs, like everything but a show or contractions? My back is killing me and getting crampy feeling in my lower abdomen and a few times has been at the top of my bump? Bubs is moving around and his head is so low its sore to go to the bathroom, have had the odd braxton hick but nothing really bad. i cant get comfy in any position and when i walk it creates so much pressure its hurting so bad im going on like someone in labour. its my second and i dont remember this with my first, in fact with her i walked around town at 39weeks +3 and she was born in the early hours of the next morning, a 6 hour labour. yesterday i done the same thing but i am 36+4. (my due date was put back a week at 35 weeks so should be 37 +4). if it was a week ahead i would think its labour in the stages a few days before but im afraid of going to hospital for no reason or being asked to wait about for a few weeks until contractions start, i cant do this for 2 weeks cuz i dont want my little girl staying in her nannys for so long 'in case this is it'. Just wondering if it could be pre-labour? iv heard slow labour is contractions but you dont actually dilate. Any one any experience/views on this? Thanks

The is such thing as Pre-labor, but I have read so many mixed things about what they symptoms are. Right now I am 38 weeks. Last Saturday I have these incredibly awful, (what I thought were gas pains) that caused me to buckle over and scream. I had them all night sat. night, then again on sunday. I went to l&d bc I had no idea what they were. I was told I was 1cm dilated...but the pain disappeared. Then it came back every night around the same time, would stay for 4 hrs. or so and then go away. I have also had diarrhea since saturday. (which they say is also a sign of early labor) Anyways, on Tuesday when I went to see my Dr, I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. I have been having contractions daily ever since. And I can feel him pressing down VERY hard on my cervix and nerves, it sends shooting pains down my inner thighs. It ***** horribly. My dr. told me I was in Prodromal Labor...and it could last for weeks before active labor begins -____- I am not happy about this. lol. I have a Dr. appt. on Tuesday so I'm hoping and praying for some progression in my cervix! I don't know the difference between, early labor, Prodromal labor, and Pre-labor, from my understanding they're all the same thing. All that I know is that these contractions and all this pain and discomfort had better be making progress. lol.
