Pregnancy and Dogs

I have a small dog (about 10lbs.) that likes to sleep on my stomach which I have no problem with but sometimes she pushes herself off my stomach to jump off (like a trampoline) and it hurts.  Most times I'm fast enough to stop her but sometimes she is too fast for me.  I'm am almost 7 weeks in so it's still early but could that hurt the pregnancy or the fetus?

I have a dog who liked to do that too and while it won't hurt baby now when baby is bigger it could cause problems. I would try and break the habit now as hard as it is to do. Snuggles and tummy sleeping are ok but launching off/trampoline belly isn't a good idea. My Lhasa apso slept on my belly a lot during my pregnancy and my boxer pit bull loved to sleep curled up next to me with her head on my tummy eat to my belly and listen to baby :) but our malanois was the tummy jumper it caused pain and sometimes contractions I had to be very careful to watch his body language so I'd see it coming and prevent it.

Hi,

I have a dobber man nine months old. He is always in playful mood. He jumps and bites me (playful bite) But my Doctor said do not get close with dogs. Even though it is a small scratch it is difficult to treat the pregnant ladies during the pregnancy. So i just started staying away from my dobie..me too 7 weeks pregnant...

Just tell your dog not to land on your abdomen.. keep on saying No when he try to jump on you.. it worked for me..Now my Shadow ( dogs name) surprises me with his gentle behaviour... But i still maintain some distance with him...i am pretty much sure that your dog will understand slowly.. fingers crossed...

It's too early, the fetus is teeny weeny inside a nice cushion of amniotic fluid.  However, I'd discourage her from launching in such a way, it's not the greatest habit anyway.  My son kicked me in the stomach (not hard) in early pregnancy and I lost the pregnancy, and although I pretty much know the two are not related, I stressed about it anyway and emotionally sort of felt like that hurt the pregnancy.  You don't want to stress every time Fifi kicks off.
