Pregnancy and Prometrium...

I had a D&C at the end of August, AF began on Sept. 25 and I have PCOS. Right now I am CD45 and just put on Prometrium. I had blood work done and found I have no HCG levels and progesterone levels were below 10. I am really hoping for an AF visit but I was wondering has anyone used Prometrium to get pregnant? I was thinking if it is for increasing your progesterone level during pregnancy and it can also be used to help you ovulate. Can you get pregnant by being on Prometrium?

So I took the progesteron and I got AF after a few days. I finally got clomid after being pushy with them. Anyhow so I have to wait for another AF because I got the clomid to late. So I hope the New Year will bring good news.

that makes no sence then why they have yo on progesterone as if yo had no levels you ar enot ovulating at all.

You need to ask them about metformon, clomid and progeterone then, good luck! and I would be pushy because the longer you go the hardger it is to get pregnant! bet of luck

Thanks 30something13. Yeah my OB did a whole blood work order on me a year ago. At the time I had no progesterone levels and high levels of androgens. So right there my OB said I have PCOS plus I had u/s done when I was 17 years old and for what she saw there and compared to presents u/s. Right now I am not on Clomid I get to call her next week to get my prescription because she wanted me to wait after I had two cycles after my D&C I had back in late August. I’m a little afraid to call because I feel like I’ve been nagging lately but I’m sure I’m not the only annoying patient she has ever had.

The bbt will work as long as when you are off work you keep the same hours of sleep and awake time! Not sure why he told you that either. Yeah my sis has PCOS and does nto O without clomid! The progesterone will not make you O so do they still have you on the clomid? If they do then you take the progesterone when dr says as the meds will force O on a certian day. Have they looked into you having PCOS? or do they just say you are inovulatory? They need to check you pituitary and thyriod also. Sorry if they have done this but I know many woman whos dr's even RE's just put them on meds and do not fully look into why they ar not ovulating or getting pregnant and years go by when it can be a quick fix.

I will keep my fingers crossed and take your BBT! Don'e tell your dr if he will say negative things! At least you will have something in front of you to show your cycles and maybe you will see a pattern and learn more about yourself.

Best of luck!

This all makes sense.

However my problem was also that the OPK tests never came out positive. The only time the strips came positive was while I was on clomid. Oh btw I don’t do the BBT because I work the graveyard shift and my OB said it wouldn’t work properly because of the hours I work, (I have no idea why it wouldn’t work the same even if I get 8 hours of sleep). Anyhow, I will have to talk to my OB/GYN. But, thankfully AF just came.

I find it odd the one thing women hate getting every month we like to freak out especially when it’s not a BFP and when that happens we freak out because we all think there is something wrong with us. I am so jealous of the "normal" women out there... at times.

Thanks for all of the positive stories, keep fingers cross for me. I am so hoping for a BFP by end of winter now.

yes it helps keep the pregnancy as in the lutal phase yoru progesterone goes up and if a baby doe snot implant then the estrogen will kick in to tell AF to come and shed the uterine linning, If your progesterone is low then that will happen even if you are pregnant without suppliments.

But you are not supposed to start it till after you for sure O! It will not make you O nor make you get pregnant!

I started mine the day after my level was 4.6 before starting the meds

I took Prometruim pills for my current pregnancy. I started the day after I ovulated and continued on taking it until I was 12 weeks along. The doctor said that it wouldnt help me get pregnant but it would help me hold onto the pregnancy (I had multiple m/c). This was definitely our golden ticket because we are now 27 weeks along with twin girls! Sending you lots of baby dust!

I used Prometrium for 2 of my pregnancies, I also have PCOS. I would start 2 days after ovulation and take it until either I got a BFN, (af usually shows up 2-3 days after stopping) or until 12 weeks.  From what I understand,  I don't think that it helps with ovulation, cause in my case I would start 2 days after my ovidrel injections, I think it is supposto make the lining thicker for the baby to implant and af doesn't come until you stop taking it. But your case might be different if you are starting it on CD45.  Good luck!!!
