Pregnancy and a head cold

Hi Ladies,

I have some kind of cold or maybe just whacked out allergies. I wake up coughing my head off, stuffed up nose, and my ears are closed up. It is worse in the morning and night. I have read that the coughing won't hurt the baby. Trying to get to sleep is ridiculous.

So far I'm just going with honey cough drops. I tried honey and lemon tea last night and that seemed to help me get to sleep. Just wondering what you guys think will help. I'm in my first trimester so I'm trying to be careful.

I am going for acupuncture today and she should be able to give me some relief.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you ladies...
Acupuncture helped. She recommended a air purifier in my bedroom. Maybe it's just a standard 8 weeker symptom. Either way...it's annoying!

I had the same thing too. I think everything your doing is good. Something else I did were sinus rinses. That helped get all the junk out of my head. Get lots of rest and try to stay away from dairy....that'll just keep mucous going.

I had the same thing 2 weeks ago, horrible head cold, from what i was told were pretty much stuck. the honey and lemon tea helps, vicks vapo rub, and tylenol for any aches. The acupuncture should help a bit but from what i was told all we can really do, especially in the first trimester, is do as much as we can do comfort ourself with things other then cough suppressants. you can also talk to your ob and see what suggestions they have. if the cough and what not lasts long enough they can proscribe you a cough medicine but in my opinion its best to stay away from that stuff especially in the first trimester.
