Progesterone Shot to prevent preterm birth

I was wondering if any of you ladies, have taken the progesterone shot (17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate) after 20 weeks in pregnancy to prevent pre-term birth. My doctor wants me to take this shot, because I've had 2 premature babies, and I am already have complications with this baby. I'm almost 22 weeks now, and I have been trying to find some information on this shot, but I can't find anything for taking it after 20 weeks. I read the FDA doesn't approve of the shot after 20 weeks in pregnancy to prevent preterm birth, and thinks it could cause effects on the baby? Any info would be helpful :)

Its done quite often now.  Its probably an off label use, so you won't find anything "official" about it.

Nah, you have nothing to worry about.  I started the weekly shots when I hit 16wks and stopped at 32wks.  I'm almost 39wks and still no baby so I think it's safe to say that it's done it's job.  I was suppose to stay on the injections until 36wks but I made the decision not to.  If he think its best I would say go for it.
