Question!!!

I went to my OBGYN last week for my annual exam and I mentioned that I wanted to start TTC soon... Dh and I decided we indeed wanted to give Julian a little bother or sister soon.. I told him we are not ativly trying but not preventing either...

I told him that I have been having my peroids mostly on time and was a little late this month with a negative pregnany test. He perscribed be Prometrim.. I had this before and the next month I found out I was pregnant back in sept 2007 whic ended in a miscarriage. Does this pill make it easier to concieve or cause a miscarriage? I am really cautious about taking it and havent really googled it because of misinformation.

I know some ladies have taken it so I figured I would ask here first! Thanks ladies!

I had to take Prometrium because my cycles were getting all screwed up and I wasn't ovulating.  The month I took it, I conceived the next cycle and had a successful pregnancy.  I had a m/c about 5 months before that, so I believe the Prometrium helped me sustain the pregnancy.  Prometrium is a progesteron supplement, the lack of progesterone can lead to m/c, so it is supposed to help with keeping the pregnancy.  Like the others said, around the end of the first trimester the placenta takes over and you no longer need the supplments.  I on the other hand, only took the prometrium BEFORE my cycle and the doctor said since I took it before that there was no need for me to continue on it - and everything was fine for me.

It helps try to maintain the pregnancy until the placenta takes over around 9 or 10 weeks.

My friend has had several miscarriages and sees an re and a high risk ob...she was put on prometrium to help with progesterone levels to promote a healthy pregnancy...therefore, I don't think it causes miscarriages and I would say it is safe while ttc although I am making assumptions based on my friend's situation....best to ask your doc or pharmacist.

Do you mean Prometrium? If so, that is just a progesterone supplement. If you didn't misspell than I am not familiar with that particular drug.
