Labor progresses in six ways.
1. The cervix softens(ripens).
2. The position of the cervix changes.
3. The cervix thins and shortens(effaced)
4. The cervix opens(dilates).
5. The baby's chin tucks onto his chest (this is called flexion) and his head rotates.
6. The baby descends.

You still have a while to go but things are sounding good :)

Will do thank you for your help:) is it weird to ask for another check or do you think he would do it anyway?

Thanks(: she's a little ham lol & youll probably dilate soon then. I was about 36ish weeks when I was 4cm dilated and 75% effaced. When you go next week make sure he checks again and ask him how far along you are (:

No he didn't say he just said my cervix was thin and I'm not dilated.. Last week I went in to L&D for contractions and leakage it wasn't my water but the nurse said I was having preterm contractions.. And he was in real shock when hearing they didn't check me? So he decided to do it today.

Ha-ha its okay. Yeah effacement is the thinning of the cervix. Did she tell you a percentage? If you're effacing you could start to lose your plug soon too. Its a good sign things are progressing

No, thinking of the cervix is called effacement, which is good. Dilating is something separate, and some women never dilate until labor. You're fine
