Question about BH contractions?

hi, well as some of you know I'm 29weeks pregnant with my first child.  this last few days I've been experiencing true BH contractions which don't hurt but are slightly uncomfortable.  Since I didn't know what I was looking for in the beginning I wasn't sure that's what they were. But I happened to be at my mom's house yesterday when my stomach tightened up and she felt it and said that's what it looked like.

I'm not really able to time them, but I can tell that over the last 2 days I've been getting them fairly frequently, like around 5-15 a day or so... those are the ones I count, and I'm not timing them because I dont really notice them unless I feel with my hands around my uterus. (It'll get pretty hard like I've tightened my muscles)< I don't really notice them going away with cold water either? (I drink a big glass)

I've got an OB appointment on Tuesday (srry ladies, I missed fridays appointment). Should I ask the doctor to do a short monitoring session for contractions at that time?

Ive also noticed an increase in discharge(cm) but nothing that would make me think it's my MP. Also the baby has been ALOT more active this last 2 days.  but again, none of these BH type things hurt me, they're mildly uncomfortable.

Yea...a lot of times you can't tell you are having them unless you are concentrating on them. I was like that...I actually didn't even know I was really in labor until my midwife checked me and I was 6cm....I hardly had any pain...I had to time them to be sure! Jeremiah was 2 weeks early, but over 8lbs! (I'm glad he came a little early...lol) But since in your family there is a risk of pre-term labor, I would be on the safe side and be monitored. You want your lil guy to stay in there for as long as possible! =)

Hi, i am 18 weeks pregnant and get them a lot. I also got them alot with my first pregnancy starting from 16 weeks.  What you are describing sounds fairly normal as when i asked my doc about them he said it was fine and not to worry unless you get more than 5 in an hour.  I tend to get mine if i have been walking around and on my feet for a while, so i take it as my bodies way of saying take a break and sit or lie down.  Mention it to your doc but i wouldn't worry as they are perfectly normal and will tend to get stronger as you get closer to your due date.

Riot~ If I'm standing and get one, it feels like a bad pulled muscle in my groin from all the tightness. I've noticed I'll also get cramped muscles bad in my hip area when walking, and it won't go away. It's lasted about 5-10min. before EVEN after sitting for a few minutes... so IDK if it was a pulled muscle or a contraction of some sort. but those hurt like h*ll.

I used to BH alot like atleats 5 -10 times a day back when I was in my 5th month.
Now I only get them a few times every couple days.
Atleast ones I could feel without having to touch my belly.
But I dunno, I could be getting them and not know it.

But when I do get them and I'm aware of them, they take my BREATH AWAY!
And god forbid I stand upright when I have one. lol.

I have to hunch over and walk when I get them cuz my belly just gets so TIGHT!!
LOL

It's like trying to stretch a pair of tighty whities from your boyfriend's butt up over his head!
It just ain't workin!
lolol!

As long as they don't become painful and regular, I was told not to worry about them
Because mine do get a lil painful, well not really painful, but very uncomfortable... if I'm standing upright, or walking upstairs in the middle of one.
Other than that, they're just mildly uncomfortable.

mommato4~ Thanks, I figured I was considering the right thing. I've always wondered if I have a higher risk of preterm labor as My mom had all 5 pregnancies early. her 3rd she MC at 5 months, and the rest of us were between 2-6weeks early. I was 6weeks.

Chantal21~ Time fly's hu? I've noticed that I can tell when he's pressed up against my belly because If I feel all over the place, my stomach will be soft in some other places. So that's how I know it's him pressing against my belly/ribs.  My problem is if I don't concentrate I won't feel the BH coming on. Maybe because it's not painful?

But I did talk to my mom, and she was curious to hear what you all had to say. I did promise her that if they keep up tonight or I get more/stronger ones, even if they don't hurt that I'll go into L&D just to get checked out. I guess when she M/C her girl at 5 mo. she had what she thought were BH conractions the night before too.. just pressure and it didn't hurt. She'd already had 3 kids at that point so thought she knew what they were... then by the time she called 911 she was bleeding everywhere and her water broke.  Luckily I'm past the 24week mark, but I still want him to stay in and cook longer!

I agree, I would have your doc check things out and monitor you just to be on the safe side. You could be getting BH and your lil guy could be in a position where he is pressing against your belly and that may be why you can't really feel the BH going away. I remember when Jeremiah would do that to me and when I would have a BH it felt like it would not go away, but it was actually the baby pressing against my belly. It took me a while to figure that one out! But def. mention it to your doc and I'm sure they will monitor you and make sure everything is okay. I can't believe you are 29 weeks already!! wow!! =)

I got them a lot with my son, However i did go in preterm labor at 6 months. I would have it checked to be sure. What to look for is if they are not going away and getting stronger . They stopped my labor and i carried him full term. But i continued to have bh the entire pregnancy.. Its seems to be normal pg stuff, the discharge and fetal movement. But let your dr know all of your concerns..
