Question about charting Temps

AF came today, which I believe is good news, so I can get on with it and try again next month.  Really weird cycle though, it lasted 49 days!  I have never went that long with out seeing AF!   I am also cramping really bad, and have a really heavy flow right now (sorry if TMI).  I guess that's because I was so late ....??  I do have to admit that charting does make things a little bit more predictable, b/c I suspected AF when my temp droped 2 days straight, how can you tell by charting your temps when you are getting ready to ovulate ?  Sorry I am new at this, this will be my first full month charting my temps.

Temping does not tell you when you will ovulate, it will only confirm that you did in fact ovulate AFTER the fact. Your temps will go up the day after ovulation and stay elevated until you get close to AF.

Some women do get a dip, though, on the day of ovulation, followed by the rise the day after. Personally, I don't get that dip, so I have to wait for the rise to confirm. I do use OPKs though...

Good luck!

your temp will go up, and stay up. I think, the odd thing is my temp went down the day of ovulation. and up again.

Sorry I can't remember if it was a spike down or up but the book called taking charge of your fertility is awesome I used that for charting.  This web site helped me to get PG.

This website is not free but it tells you when you are ovulating and everything and you chart temps there too.  Hope it helps. ~d
