Question: marijuana and pregnancy

Hello ladies, now I know this is a contraversal topic. But u dont want any rude remarks. I want to know what some views are on smoking marijuana while pregnant ONLY to help relief pain and nausea.  It is clinically proven to help both of those things. And I have done hours on hours of research on the topic and have not read anything from ant doctors that states that marijuana hurts you or the baby. Ive also asked MY own doctor and he said he cant recomend it but he does know it does NOT hurt the baby. Im in pennsylvania so thats the reason he cant recomnd it. But what are your views and why. And if you are just against it in general because "its a drug" I probably wont wanna hear what you have to say. Because its not a drug. It grows from the ground. It is not altered either. Its proven to help way more than it hurts. Thank you!

Marijuana is illegal in most areas of the US, and in most areas where it is legal, it requires a prescription - if you are in one of those areas, please consult your physician.

We aren't able to host discussions that advocate illegal activity or using prescription drugs without the advice of a physician, so this thread will be closed.

Speed is a form of *methamphetamine*. Cigarettes are addicting as the nicotine binds to the acetylcholine receptors in your brain. Thus making your body crave it.  While it is more difficult to quit because all of the activities that go along with smoking it is still addicting. Otherwise medicines like Chantix and Wellbutrin would not be able to help you quit. As for your symptoms... The not being able to sleep or eat, that is just how pregnancy is for some of us. Many have gotten along without marijauna just fine. I am in no way judging you for doing it but it seems to me as if your trying to justify your decision to smoke by having people on here tell you that it's okay. Plenty of babies are born healthy after the mother's smoked speed or snorted cocaine. Some people just get lucky. Unfortunately that makes them feel that it was okay to do.  Like I said I'm not judging as I smoked cigarettes for part of my pregnancy. Some of your research is flawed though. Also you have to worried about cps getting involved. If you smoke after a certain week thc will show up in your babies meconium if they test it.

I smoked for the first 2 months of my pregnancy, it's the only thing that helped me with my morning sickness. I quite smoking when I was around 17 weeks because I didn't want it to show up in my babies system when he's born..  I smoked regularly before I found out I was prego, I smoked for about 7yrs.. I'm now 25 weeks and I haven't smoked since before Christmas :)

I personally don't see a problem with it, if that's what you want to do.. I used to smoke but quit when I found out I was pregnant. Not only is it illegal I would be terrified of getting caught by the police and going to jail while pregnant.. I live in PA as well and they aren't lenient here on drugs.. I know it helps with nausea and pain but you can also get CYS involved if it is in the babies or your system when the baby is born. Its just not worth it to me.

I believe its safer than 3/4th of the things we eat to begin with. If your not eating organic your slowly killing yourself and your child. Everything we eat has chemicals hormones pestisides galore In them! Not only that but the food that isnt organic is all CHEAPER than the food you should actually eat. Like I said all the food has chemicals. Marijuana... it does not. And it is not addictive. Cigs arent even addictive. That is all a mental thing. Ive been there and done that. Im a bery educated woman I go to the library and do lots of research on many different topics. And marijuana can no way be conpared to speed or methanphedomine. No way. And the only way weed can hurt you is if you smoke your weight in weed. Which A is impossible because youd pass out way before reaching your weight.. and B thats just a waste amd a stupid thing to do..

I agree I smoked for two weeks with my daughter when I was pregnant with her. And of course at the beginning before I knew I was pregnant she came out fine granted I didnt smoke that much though.  And when I gave birth to her neither her or I got drug tested. I think they have to habe probable cause to do that. And this pregnancy ive smoked a good bit.. every other to every two days if anything. Because I get so sick. I habe zero appetite at all. No food turns me on to want to eat. It all makes me turn my head. And I can not help it. I know its my pregnancy because thats literally NEVER happened before. And if I smoke I instantly want to eat. So there for it helps me. It also helps me sleep at night. If I dont smoke right before bed then I will sleep til 2-3 am then im UP. If I do u sleep up until my daughter wakes up at seven. Then him UP. Lol so it does benifit me.. I dont plan to smoke the entire time I plan to stop by my third trimester if not before.. but its just so tempting and helpful.. and as for healthy babies I know alot of woman who smoked one pregnancy but not tje other and the baby whom they smoked with is alot more calm happy amd chill.  The others are wild.. lol and my daughter she has her calm moments but shes a crazy girl lol and like I said I bearly smoked with her. Only like two weeks. In December and I had her in may 2012.

Okay so I believe. Its a drug if it's abused but I don't see it as a drug, if its smoked in moderation and not abused, maybe smoked twice a week at the least 'cause it can be adictive and can cause things speed and **** can cause. Even alcohol. Paranoia, excessive weight loss, seeing things, believing in things that aren't really there or happening etc etc. Ithink weed does help your body, I hhaven't done research or anything and who knows it actually may help with your childs development. I see it as wine, like they say its actually good for the baby and I think its stupid that people get judged for smoking weed but its okay to drink wine?.. I honestly would not risk my childs health drinking wine or smoking weed but in saying that I
I do risk my child health because I eat a lot of take away and drink coke and eat deli meats lalalala..I believe that them things are okay in moderation, if you have done your research and believe that it can help baby, not help your sickness but help babies development I see no issue with you having it here and there if you wont get addicted. I wouldnt personally do it, but thats what I think is best for my baby. everything we eat and drink is taking a risk for our unborn child its just do you believe your baby can handle it and will be safe?

Only thing with that be that as it may its a plant yes but soical services will be called they drug test u and once baby is born they drug test baby then you risk getting him/her taken away because in the eyes of child protection services its a drug and according to a judge and i'm not against smoking it at all lol just not while pregnant my friend smoked all the way till her last day just weed and tomorrow she fights the state for custody of her son because he had weed in his system and hers just saying , there's gonna be pain in pregnancy unfortunately we all have it and have to deal with it i'd look at it like this either you wanna smoke and mask the pain for a couple hours or keep your baby unless you had doctor's consents and all that me personally wouldn't risk it

I smoked up until January, I stopped so it isn't in my babies system when she's born I'm due in April. My doctor told me it doesn't hurt the baby it's just Dcf would get involved if she tested positive, it worked so well with my sickness and gave me an appetite. I don't think there is anything wrong with it :)

I did not state that now did I? I dint want to hear tge negative nancies who know nothing on the topic. Because there is so much use that could come out of hemp/marijuana. And ive never heard or seen any where that it hurts you or the baby. The reason for my post. Thank u.

So, you only wanna hear our opinion if it supports what you believe? I wouldn't, because its so controversial and I wouldn't want to take the risk. But do whatever you feel is right. Its your body and your baby.
