Question on buying things for baby;

Should I start getting things now or wait until after my baby shower? Everyone has told me to wait until after my baby shower, a month prior to having the baby - that's not really much time to buy everything I don't get. What do you ladies think?

I would try and buy little things here and there especially when you see a good deal..... you can never have enough onesies, gowns, or pj's for your little one.... I agree though  cminamyer my mom actually bought me the crib, my MIL bought me a stroller and best friend bought me the swing, I was really blessed! So i got three big things knocked out at my shower.... so sometimes it does pay to wait and see what BIG things you will be getting at your shower!

i made sure i had my crib, carseat, changing table/dresser combo, a 6pk of preemie onesies (just in case) small pack of diapers, wipes, 4pk of bottles, and that was it! didn't have to buy to much after the shower....i was still being sent stuff after i gave birth like clothes, bottles, crib bedding! so i think the necessities is okay until after the shower just in case!!!!!

I didn't buy anything until after the shower and even then I didn't buy much. My mom got me the stroller/carseat combo. My sister bought me the crib that had a changing table. I got a lot of clothes, toys, 2 high chairs, bouncers, everything! I would suggest waiting. I think 1 month is plenty of time to get the rest :) Good luck!

I agree that you can buy the big stuff, as long as your parents and DH's don't plan on buying it.  Sometimes parents do that, mine didn't, but I have friends that got lucky like that, lol.  But I disagree that you can't have to many clothes, I had way to many clothes for DD she didn't even get to wear them all before she grew out of half of them.  I would wait to buy clothes and blankets, I got way to many at my baby shower.  Those are the things that people will get you the most.

yeah I think I'm going to - and since he's going to be born in July I'm going to get a carseat/stroller for when he gets a little bit older enough to go outside :]

I'm with Darkestlight. I bought all the things I knew I wouldn't get at the baby shower ahead of time and then only had a little bit of stuff to get after my baby shower.

i dunno. I got the big things ya know that i knew people werent going to buy such as a crib, changing table, my dad got a dresser for my dd. Things such as that. I'd buy clothes here and there u can never have too many clothes.
