Running and Pregnancy

Hi, I am in my 20s. About this time last year, I started exercising twice a week, while overtime increasing the intensity of my exercises. I didn't start running as part of my exercise routine until 5 months ago. I can now run 3/4 of a mile. I am in my 2ww hoping that I may be pregnant. Is is a good idea for me to continue to run when I could be pregnant? Or should I reduce the intensity of my workout routine during my 2ww just in case?

Hi,

I'm a runner and continued running till almost 12 weeks. I wasn't as steady with my running because some days you are just too exhausted! I had to stop because It was getting uncomfortable to run. Before I found out I was pregnant, I was training for a race. It's fine to keep running but if you are pregnant don't try to do more intense than you are used to. If you are running a mile now...then continue running a mile. I didn't up my distance at all. I stuck with 3-4 miles. These days, I just walk and have a pilates and yoga video for pregnancy.

So that's probably more than you were asking for. While you are TTC...keep running. It won't hurt you or the baby. Best of luck TTC!

You can continue running, but perhaps when you realise it is too much then stop. If your heart is beating quite fast, you have shortness of breath or any bleeding, they you should stop. Don't over-exert yourself. There are alot of mothers that run when pregnant. Good luck!
