SO ITCHY!!

Hey everyone!  I am 5 weeks pregnant and have this extremely itchy rash on my body, particularly my arms, chest and trunk.  It looks like tiny red bumps and appears to be more severe when I scratch (but it's so hard not to!!!).  I've read about pregnancy rashes, but they usually occur much later in the pregnancy.  Does anyone know what could be going on and is this normal??

well, I started going at 4 weeks, and if you are having a problem like that they should see you sooner.. I would call monday just in case, not to make you worry, but we can never be to safe, right..

Thanks for your help!  I looked up cholestasis and I really don't think it's that bc I'm not experiencing any of the other symptoms.  And I have not yet been to my obgyn bc I was told not to go until you're about 7 weeks.... true??

Oh and I am 23 weeks, pg and am really itchy too, but I dont have  a rash and that was the one thing the doctor told me to watch for, so sorry I didnt mention that.. Otherwise you could just be reacting to detergent, our bodies change so much while we go threw all this.. Again, good luck and keep safe..

Have you called your doctor?  You need to call his asap, really.. there are a few complications that can come about while you are pg, cholestasis for one and one of the signs is a rash.  Just call your doctor if you havent.. That is what they are there for, to keep you and that baby healthy and safe.  Make them earn all that money.. LOL.. Good Luck..

It's so weird b/c the only thing that is different or that I have done differently is my pregnancy!  Everything else is completely normal!!!  I guess I'm off to CVS in the morning for some Bendryl!!!

YIKES.....Sorry that you;re having to deal with this....Do you think that it's an allergic reaction to something?  Have you tried taking Benadryl?  It's safe to take during pregnancy according to my OB Dr.

My cousin got a rash like that once that was only on her arms, chest, stomach, and back.  She went to the doc and they gave her a special cream to use.  She wasn't preggo at the time though so I don't know if they could give you the same thing.  Worth a try if it can get that itching to stop though.

Thank you so much for your reply!!!  I live in NYC and I'm positive it's not dry skin.  Nothing like this has ever happened and everyone who sees it tell me it's probably an allergic reaction to something (I have yet to tell many people about my pregnancy because it is so early).  I itch all over!!!!

Where do you live?  I've had the same thing for 2 weeks now and although I'm not sure if I'm pregnant (not testing until Mon.) I doubt that's what this is (in my case anyway)...I live in upstate NY where the weather is warm one day and zero the next, with wind, etc.....My skin is BAD right now and the most expensive cream isn't working.....Big old dry splotchy patches that itch like mad.....By my elbows, above my knees, behind my armpits, my thighs.....It STINKS!  So I can relate to what you're going thru......If you're in nice warm weather, it could be pregnancy, although I'm not really sure!
