Saw a Heartbeat but now its gone???

I am supposed to be 10 weeks pregnant. I had my first u/s when I was 6 weeks 5 days and everything looked good there was a heartbeat and baby was measuring on time. I went back at 9 weeks and 5 days and had another u/s the baby had no heartbeat and was measuring to be only 7 weeks and 1 day. Can there be any mistake? Should I ask for another u/s or just go for a d&c. The baby has been dead 3 weeks and I have had no bleeding or cramping. Any suggestions or thought would be helpful. Thank you.

(((HUGS))) I am so sorry. I too have experienced a missed m/c.
I do agree that it is a good idea to get your beta levels checked just to be absolutely sure. Then talk to your Dr. about your options. I do believe that if you are uncomfortable with the idea of a D&C that there are medications you can take, or possibly even wait to see if your body will recognize the loss instead.
Once again I am so sorry, I know this is very difficult. Please know that we are here for you if you need to talk.

Yes sadly this is something that can happen....and worriedbabe is correct it's called a missed miscarriage.  I had one a year and a half ago where my body was 10 weeks along but the baby had passes away at 6 weeks.  Not long after I found out though I started to bleed and cramp and passed the baby naturally.  I wouldn't go for a D and C and I'd do what worriedbabe said which is to check HCG levels and possibly go to someone else for another scan.

So sorry that is happening to you

this is known as a missed miscarriage and i am so sorry for your loss. personally, i'd need to be 100% certain that i'd miscarried before going for a d and c. one sure way to know is to have blood hcg tests done. if your levels fall and continue to do so, you've miscarried. another scan is also a good idea but may still leave you with slight doubts. in my honest opinion, it does sound like you have miscarried. i'm sorry.
