Short femur bones - UPDATED
I wanted to reassure people that short femur bones may not mean anything. I like many others looked here for reassurance and vowed I would post to try and reassure others. My 20 week scan was fine and then I went for a scan at 28 weeks, due to high blood pressure and they noted short femur bones. I didn't know what this could mean and spent weeks finding out and scaring myself. We went for a private scan to double check and sure enough they were behind by 3 weeks. We had to be scanned another 3 times and although the legs were growing they were still behind. By the time Anna was born they were behind by 5 weeks. I'm only 5ft 2 and my husband 5ft 6. Anna was born in May and is fine, she hasn't got the longest legs but neither have I or my husband. If we hadn't had a scan at 28 weeks we would never have known and never had the stress or worry. The private scan lady said that after 20 weeks genetics takes over and I think Anna will be short just like us. If this reassures one person it's worth it, try and enjoy your pregnancy and don't worry, if you can i know it's hard. x
