Should you stop taking birth control of you think your pregnant?

So I was on the pill for 3 weeks after having my daughter.. and I stopped taking it to switch to the patch. It could be possible that I gotten pregnant during the switch because we didnt use condoms or anything..
After I stopped taking the pill I thought I was pregnant because I didnt start my period right away (I usually do if i miss a day or 2). I started 5 days after then started the patch so I didnt bother with a home pregnancy test.
I guess my question is should I stop taking the patch.. or take a test first?
How long will it take to show up on a test. If I'm pregnant would I still start bleeding after coming of birth control from the withdraws?..just confused about the whole thing.

Anything will help!!
Thanks

I would talk to your dr. I'm not sure about the patch, but I have read that taking the pill while pregnant (before you know you're pregnant) is not harmful to the baby. Do not stop your birth control because what you are experiencing could be from starting and then stopping the pill and then starting the patch. You may or may not be pregnant, and stopping the birth control is only going to throw off your body if you are not pregnant.

i believe that u have to be at least 2 weeks pregnant before a test can read positive but i am not sure, however, if you believe your pregnant you should definitely stop using contraceptives.
