Spotting...

So.... I woked up this morning bleeding lightly and with cramps. Would be 8 weeks tomorrow. Can't stop crying and am about to go into a panic here.
Anybody have a positive story about first-trimester bleeding this late? This is freaking me out that I'm losing another baby. Never made it this far before.
And yes, I did have sex last night and wasn't very wet to start out (sorry) so it was a little rough at first.  ???

Well, either I just had the infamous "period while pregnant," I've miscarried, or I've gone insane. What a week for my partner to be gone! He's been working in the mountains, without cell service, for the past three days, so we haven't been able to consult on the next step. I feel stupid at the prospect of bugging the doctor to be told it's only my period, at this point in my life I've been getting my period longer than I haven't, thank you very much, and I'm pretty good at telling what is and is not normal in my cycle.

The bleeding tapered off dramatically yesterday and stopped this morning. Except for when I first got up in the mornings, never had any blood in the toilet, only on pads/paper. Lightest "period" ever, pretty much, except for last month's spotting episode.

I woke up feeling hormonal with a headache, sore breasts and the usual mild nausea again today. Still can't drink coffee or eat much of anything. Still constipated, and it's not my prenatal.

Setting up an appointment for next week and going to give it the weekend to see if I feel any better. Took another HPT and it was negative. Except for the positive test at the beginning of this whole thing, I've never had a positive HPT in my life, including with my miscarriage at 6-7 weeks last year. (Doctor's office tested urine twice because I was obviously in such bad shape that time, even, but wouldn;t give me bloodwork and a few days later I had an obvious miscarriage at home.) So it doesn't mean much.

How in the world do I go tell the doctor that I've gotten several negative urine tests, in addition to positive and inconclusive results, AND that I seem to have just had a "period" but I'm still questioning the possibility that I am or was 8 weeks pregnant?

I think I'm officially crazy.

I had bleeding like that when I was pregnant with my son.  Like a light flow, and it lasted most of my first trimester.  I was completely convinced I had lost the baby, but it turned out I had a small hematoma that wasn't impacting the pregnancy, but sure scared the heck out of me.  It eventually bled itself out.

Bleeding in first trimester can be caused by a lot of different things, but if it's more then spotting, you should have it checked out.  All the best to you.

Thanks! Trying to rest today and will be making an appointment to get checked out. I don't think it's dramatic enough to merit ER quite yet. Not in any pain today but had a good and crazy meltdown this afternoon and am much calmer now.
Still no blood in toilet, just on paper and a little on pads. No loss of prego symptoms either -- very emotional and constipated (gross I know), which I am taking as a good sign. Never thought I'd be so happy to be constipated!
My mom did just tell me she had to have progesterone suppositories with my brother. So could easily be cervical irritation or just low hormones here.

Try not to worry too much. If you are truly concerned, go to the ER. I am about 13 weeks now and I have had bleeding and spotting on and off with a health pregnancy. It's scary, I know, and I've been to the ER twice now! But it's never been anything serious. I was actually later diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed, which is like a blood clot in the uterus.
Try to relax, put your feet up and drink lots of water. Good luck!

Yeah am getting concerned too. I am 45 minutes from the closest place that handles pregnant women and we are under a winter storm warning. We have a rural hospital but it's kind of a joke and I don't trust their ER. Trying to stay calm!

I wouldn't wait to be honest...it could be decidual bleeding, or you could need some progestrone...if it's anything else yes it's likely there's nothing they can do but you never know - sometimes it's an easy fix.

Thinking of you girl, hope you get some answers soon :-/ But that is VERY similar to the bleeding I had with this pregnancy...a good bit of blood wiping, soaked a bit of a pad over a few hours...but never anything in the toilet. It's odd sometimes, for sure.

Still confused. Abstained from sex last night to see if it would stop. More like a flow today, enough to fill one pad but still way light compared to day 2 of a period. Started out brown/pink. Some red blood today but only when I wipe. Almost no blood in toilet except for first thing this morning. No cramps, no clots and still feeling very hormonal.
????? so weird. Mostly just feel like an idiot right now. i just don't get it. Will try to get ultrasound or heartbeat check but would like it to stop bleeding first.

i am having same situation but i am 6 weeks. i know how you feel i have been crying since then and the worst thing is when i went for scan on friday it did not show any fetus only sac and yolk and said i am probably 5 weeks. i got scan again on 21/11/11. i have been having pinkish discharge only had one drop of blood tiny. thats all. my nurse said it was too early to scan. i hoping everything be fine on 21/11/11 and my baby shows a heartbeat. my doctor did not answered me probably. she said anxiety can cause problems so we don't tell about miscarriage that early. i think you should go to ER thats what i did. i know its very depressing but try to relax because it might be nothing. some people say that in week 6-8 you do get slight spotting as your body is trying to stop you from having periods. i hope you will be fine. all blessings are with you

When I was pregnant 6 years ago, I had spotting at 10 weeks. I went and got it checked out. They did an ultrasound, and everything was good.

I would say it may be nothing to worry about, but would say go get it checked out just to be certain. Better to be safe then sorry!

I've heard of some women bleeding a little when they expect their normal period, so that could be it! Is it bright red? You should definitely go in for an early scan to make sure everything's ok!!!

I don't know how I missed this when you first put it up AND you responded gah!

Try not to give up hope; are you going into the doctor's for a u/s at any point since this started up? But since it's just spotting but no actual flow that's a good sign!

@Ivy thanks! So far it's just light spotting -- no blood in the toilet. Lower back cramps and major headache this morning but that's mostly gone now. Will definitely update as I can.
This is driving me crazy because I'd wanted to skip a 2nd period before telling relatives and making a big fuss @ doc's office. The waiting has been torture. I had weird spotting at the very beginning, and the timing now is similar to when I'd normally expect my cycle. It's almost enough to make me think the last month of hormonal rollercoaster is all in my head. Rrrrrrr!

Definitely have a story! I bled with baby #2, and with this pregnancy, right around 7/8wks. Both bleeding incidents happened after sex - with this pregnancy i bled again a few weeks later and they think it may have been a vanished twin, but either way..baby#2 is now a healthy, wonderful 16-month-old boy, and this pregnancy is now almost 20wks and still doing just fine :-).

I do agree that you should go get it checked out, but if I had to guess I would guess the sex irritated something in there.

best of luck and keep us updated, OK?
