Stripping Membranes

I'm going to be 38 weeks on Wednesday at my last OB appointment I was 4cm. And 80% effaced with baby at -1 and I'm a FTM wondering about having my membranes stripped to help me go into labor. Anyone have this done with success? Pros/cons?

Thanks to all. I went in today and they did the membrane sweep. I am 38 weeks tomorrow i haven't felt anything except light cramping. Hopefully something in the next few days if not induction on Monday!!!

I had a membrane sweep at 38 weeks the next day I went int labor! I would say it works!

Oh and it was more than discharge it was a LOT they explain the difference to you

I know it's normal I did have it done and explained to me!! It was my show been losing plug bit by bit the last week! It's worth a try anyway bigmomma1995 works for some :)

Spotting and cramping is normal after a sweep. If you had a bloody mucous discharge it doesn't necessarily mean it was your show, it could have been from the cervix being irritated from the check. When the cervix gets irritated it can bleed.

Today is my due date and I had the sweep (membranes stripped) this morning and I've just had my show about 10 or 15 minutes ago! Been having period like cramps but could be like this for days! Not getting my hopes up!

But I did have bloody show and mild contractions and back cramps the day after

I got a membrane sweep last week it didn't work for me .  Still pregnant and I'm 39 weeks

When the baby is above the pelvis it's at -3 when your crowning it's at +3 and at 0 it's considered "engaged" so I'm only 1 point away from being engaged. Basically his head is really far down.
