TMI - loose stools = sign of impending labour?

I've read that this can be a sign that labour is coming.  For the past few days, I've been experiencing loose stools in the morning....but usually by the end of the day, they're back to normal - or, if anything, I'm just feeling constipated.  In fact, this whole pregnancy I've been experiencing more diarreah alternating with constipation then I did when I was pregnant the last time - even going back so far as the 2WW with this pregnancy!

So....maybe it doesn't mean anything.  I mean, otherwise, I'm not cramping, contracting, don't have any change in discharge - nothing.  I feel as though the baby is still sitting fairly high up and hasn't dropped.

If nothing happens before tomorrow morning, I'm back to see my OB again.

WOW! I cannot wait to hear when LO arrives!!! Break out the exercise ball and bounce on it. That can help baby descend in pelvis more. I know that my last baby wasn't really engaged either, even when labor started. I had to lay in bed until she descended more to prevent cord prolapse but once her head was engaged and the cord wasn't in the way of being compressed by her head in the birth canal, I was free to get up.

I never had loose stools leading up to my previous two children being born but it could be a possibility with your due date so close

my sister had bad diarrhea before she had her 3rd child she felt she was never off the loo at times, she say's bouncing on a yoga or birthing ball is good just before labour as it helps move the baby down.  I don't think it would hurt if you want to give it a try.  Best of luck for when labour eventually arrives!!!

It can be  a sign of labor coming soon. It's your bodies natural reaction to clearing things out before you have the baby.  Not all women have it tho.  When I was pregnant with my youngest daughter.  The day I went into labor I had only had just mild BH contx off and on like I had for weeks.  Nothing unusual.  I don't remember if I had loose stools or not, I think I did bu tI'm not sure on that one.  But I went to bed around 10 and at midnight I woke up to a "popping" sensation and everythign felt wet.  I got up and went to the bathroom, came back, smelled it...it was pee....then I realized Uh oh, my water broke.  I tried to wake DH up, he mumbled "oh ok" and rolled over and I was like "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND...GET UP" which he finally did....about that time the contractions hit me.  They just got worse from there.  She was born at 6:27 am.   Anyway, my point is that you could go into labor literally out of nowhere and not have a clue it's coming.
