Tanning is addicting.. I know first hand.

Your baby's eyes are at risk as well.  They are developing within you and it if is bad for your eyes imagine how that poor baby will feel being blinded by the light.  Their eyes are just as sensitive inside as ours are on the outside.

ew!  that is weird!  i've also seen similar things on talk shows of women that were so addicted that they went several times a day to different tanning places.  they were in their 20s and looked 40!  i'm a sun lover myself, i cannot wait to hit the beach every summer...but these women that i saw on oprah were actually addicted where they couldn't go a day without it or they would have panic attacks!  it's a real thing!  anyway, that was a bit off subject...

have a good day girlies :-)

You could actually "cook" your baby. I heard of a woman who went to several tanning places in one day and ended up dying because she cooked her internal organs.

You shouldn't do it, pregnant or not, if you value your health and want to be around to take care of your child. Try the spray-on tanning stuff instead!

Not good...I had asked my MD a while back when I was TTC and he said absulutely not....I didn't want to go if I was preggo and didn't yet know it....It's like putting the baby in an oven....They make all kinds of baby-safe self tanning lotions.

i have read that the high temps and the radiation could be harmful to your baby.  personally, i wouldn't do it.  i agree with the other girls--use a bronzer or a sunless tanner.  i use them during the winter and there are some great brands out there that look pretty natural.  try lancome, dove or bare essentials.  happy baby making :-)

I agree with ExpectingaRedhead! If tanning isnt even safe for you then why would tanning be safe for a baby? Its not even safe for a hot tub.

If there is any question about whether it's okay or not, you probably shouldn't do it. There really is no need at all to tan while pregnant.

My doctor told me it's very unsafe for the baby...obviously some women are already tanning and don't know their pregnant so I can't say women haven't done it, but I've been told not too, it's very dangerous for the developing baby. I had a hard time with that too, so I just use bronzer now..not the same but whats more important ya know? Good Luck!

if you want a tan do the spray on kind, like mystic.  Not only are tannings beds bad for your baby they are bad for you.  My SIL went tanning alot and she ended up having skin cancer and she had to have all of it removed, which she said can be very painful depending on how deep the cancer goes.  It's not worth it.

Definitely ask your doctor about this, but I personally would not tan during pregnancy.  My whole pregnancy the first time around I just got used to being white and now this time I will do the same.  It's just not worth taking the chance!  My son ended up being born with a heart defect and I did EVERYTHING like I was supposed to while being pregnant so you can't be too careful, especially if it's a choice type thing that is a want..............not a need.

I totally agree with you about the baby's health. Obviously that comes first. Thanks for your thoughts though.

I think if you only go in for an extrememly short amount of time and dont have it on high that its okay but just like anything you dont want to over do it and cook your baby. I personally would never try tanning if I was pregnant since my babies health is more important than my physical appearance and its very possible it could cause problems but its honestly up to you.

I heard that its really bad for your baby.   i would talk to your doc and see what they say, or google it and see what the internet has to say about it.
