Gotta love food for a buck! Our economy and government is crazy...Do you get SSI for TJ when he's born? My coworker's son is autistic and they get something to help out because she cannot work fulltime...
The first time I called I was told I didn't qualify. Then I called again recently (i'm 8 1/2mo pregnant) and gave that woman my income again... I didn't have EXACT figures but she said I'm borderline w/dh's income.
So they made me an appointment for aug. 19th or so. I'm gonna need all the help I can get w/TJ, and now that I've not hardly been working lately, money is TIGHT! we can barely afford our bills much less food to eat.
I went and got a bunch of $1 tv dinners because it was cheaper than shopping for stuff to make for dinners. I hate our economy!
I tried, and the lady kept interrupting me to the point where I got super P I S S E D and hung up..
I have very little patience for rudeness and stupidity when dealing w/ someone that is working in customer service, but I swear it is much worse lately with my hormones.. Maybe I will try to call again next week when I am less likely to bite someone's haed off and/or get the same lady!
I doubt it will do any good.. They didn't seem at all interested in my health insurance expenses, car payments, insurance, mortgage, etc..
She was all " It's based on your GROSS income, ma'am..."
I think I was so angry I told her I "I KNOW MY INCOME IS GROSS, THAT'S WHY I AM CALLING YOU!!"
I was soo sick of listening to her schpeil that I totally stooped to that level.
That is a good point Joy...Sometimes if you talk to a real person, they can pull some strings...I'm not with child yet, so I am not in need at this moment BUT hopefully Laura can work something out!
Oh no!!! I'm so sorry they're being pains. Just a suggestion but could you re-apply and speak with the WIC counselor about your debt-to-income ratio?
Yeah...it is a good program for those who qualify...I agree with Laura though...it doesn't help those who are working but who's net income is minimal after health insurance, mortgage, etc. It seems that people like Laura and I who fly just over the radar get screwed on this stuff...sorry to rant...but it just reminded me of how upsetting and frustrating this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out I don't qualify for WIC!!!?? I was like "Are you kidding me?"
They base it on your gross income with no regard to your monthly bills or take-home pay.. I am soo frustrated w/ everything I could scream!
I am sure WIC is awesome if you are allowed to use it..
I am having such an annoying day.. Sorry
It's a very nice program! It was designed for working families so you can make up to $30,000 a year and still qualify! Formula is just way too expensive!!!
i always ran out of formula between 9-10 months and would have to buy atleast 4-5 cans which they were about 7 bucks for the kind he was on so yeah it is expensive....my neice is on some that is 24 bucks a can because she is lactose intolerant....the health clinic helped her out with extra when she ran out!
