The Pill - to Take or not

Hey all..

So I had a baby almost 10 weeks ago now. I'm still undecided if I want to go back on the pill or not. I have started AF this past week. I did take 1 pill last nite as I'm a sunday starter. I'm still up in the air if I want another kid or not. I think I do. This is my third. I'm 33 y.o. If I do want another, I don't want one for at least a year. It took the bf and myself some time to conceive our baby. I'm not worried about getting pregnant as that's actually a bit hard for me due to the positioning of my uterus. I've been on and off the pill most of my life since I was 15.

What do you guys think? I'm thinking the majority will tell me to take it, which I can understand. I suppose I could go on it for 6 mos. then stop taking it. Im not sure why this is so hard for me to decide. Normally I'd jump on it without hesitation to take it.

Anyways, any help would be great... Thanks :)

Lisa

Thanks all for the suggestions...

I think I'm going to go with my plan, which is to take the pill for 6 mos then re-evaluate things and go from there.

I'm taking Yaz. I love this pill. I've been on it for 2 yrs plus it stabilizes my mood when it's time to PMS. I take it before I go to bed.

Well thanks all for your help.. i appreciate it :)

We are struggling with this ourselves, I am 30 and it took over 3 years for us to get pregnant, I'm due in Dec and thinking of letting nature take it's course after our daughter is born but really don't want two babies so we are kinda worried that this time I would get pregnant within a few months.

In your situation since you are not sure you want another kid I would take the pill. I myself will most likely take a pill for 6 month like you were suggesting for yourself.

My advice - is take the pill. Having more than one baby under 2 years old would be very hard and lots of work. I would wait about 6 months and if you still want another baby talk with your BF and see what he thinks about it. I wouldnt rush it as you are still young.

You could always take the mini-pill (progesterone only)...that's what I'm taking. it's good if you're breast-feeding, and it doesn't cause weight gain (YES!). However, because there's no estrogen or estradiol in it, the effects don't last as long (and the dose is lower) so you HAVE to take the pill within 3 hours of the same time every single day without fail. if you are more than 3 hours late, you have to use back-up for 48 hours.

however, this also means that once you stop taking it, it quickly (almost immediately) leaves your system and is thought to be very beneficial to people who are planning to try to conceive again within a year or two of starting the pill initially.

I started mine at the beginning of the month and so far the side effects have only been morning nausea and a little bit of bloating around ovulation time...but other than that I love it. However, I have no problem taking pills at exactly the right time ( I mark down my medication times and you would laugh because for the first seven days it's 10pm,10pm,10pm,10pm,10pm,10pm,10pm and then I was late and took one at 10:07pm....LOL). so if you have a hard time remembering, this one isn't for you, but otherwise it MAY be helpful to take this if you plan to TTC again fairly soon.
