Then what?
So I have my 1st u/s on friday. and just wanted to know. if for some reason they cant see anything or if the baby has no hb. What should I do?? Could my dates be off?? But I know LMP was oct26th and I Oed on the 11th-13th. But, by the doc going by my LMP could there be away my date could be off?? or No??

She will measure at 8 weeks on the scan. All of that is adjusted in these new U/S machines. The measured age includes the 2 weeks that she wasn't pregnant before ovulation. I have been tracking my dates and my cycles for quite some time and knew EXACTLY when I conceived. My cycles were longer so they said I should be further along than I was. I explained that I had 42 day cycels to them and that I knew exactly when I ovulated. I ended up being dead on accurate to the day, when I had my first scan. They thought I was 6 weeks 5 days before they did the scan, I knew the correct dates and said I should be 5 weeks 6 days (inlcuding the 2 weeks I wasn't pregnant, so technically I had only been pregnant for 3 weeks 6 days). However, sure enough I measured at exactly 5 weeks 6 days on the can. Basically the point to my story is if she is supposed to be 8 weeks inlcuding the 2 she wasn't technically pregnant, she SHOULD measure at 8 weeks on the machine. That is what they mean by gestational age. Also to mamaofone... don't worry one bit, by that time you should see the HB. At my first scan I was only 5w 6d and saw the HB measuring at 105 bpm. I am now 11 weeks. Hope this helps
No, they measure it based on gestational age, not based on actual age. So on an ultrasound, it will measure 8 weeks, if it is 8 weeks from her last menstrual period (assuming she ovulated about 14 days into her cycle), even though the embryo technically is only about 6 weeks.
in theory she will be 8 weeks but the baby only will measure 5 weeks 5 days since she got pregnant during ovulation.she wasnt pregnant from the 26th oct.
Actually i meant your estimated due date based on lmp is 1st august 2008.based on your last period.but at a scan later it will change,once there measure you,i know all numbers.but remember your dates will look different fri he will say your last period was 26th so you 7 weeks and few days,but you concieved 2 weeks later through ov,ok i will stop confuseing you now...
...oh, and based on your expected ovulation, you would only be about two-three days less than that, so you should still be able to see everything by then.
Doctors always go by gestational age, which is based on your last menstrual period, so you will be 8 weeks pregnant on Friday. You should be able to see both the embryo and a heartbeat at 8 weeks. Good luck to you!
I went in for my first obgyn appoint on friday and i had to see the head nurse. she asks me when the 1st day of my last per was (10/1) and she tells me I am 10 weeks...No Not True...When I went for my first u/s all they saw was the sac and nothing in it yet but I was def preg...My doc told me I was probably only about 4 weeks...which did make sense to me b/c I went by me conception date of 11/11(weird huh) yes i know my conception date...I was 7 weeks 1 day last friday...I did see something and did see the h/b...

They will give you a date of probabley 1st sep 08.thats by lmp but i would say real due date would be between 13 and 16th which they prob give you at a later scan.
tell me about it,took me a while..its the luck of the draw as you know every baby is different,your last pergnancy at 7 weeks baby would have been 5 weeks,so you could here heartbeat,this time as well all im saying is to be to worried if you dont all babys are different.they will always go by your lmp until bit later when they will measure the baby and can then judge a due date,thats how they do it in the uk.if you know you ov between the 11-13 then the baby wouldnt be any younger unless you got your ov dates wrong.but since we ov different times its less confushion for them to go by lmp.
So if i dont go in and they say Im only 5-6 weeks will they change my due date or still go by my LMP??

Hey girl,well you o'ed 11-13th nov right.so baby be 5 weeks 5 days fri, but doc will say your 8 weeks.by lmp.at 5week 5 days i would think you would see somthing,not sure of heartbeat though maybe to soon,as long as everything looks good dont panic,so you may get confused but you be ok,,
