Tmi

This is kinda gross and I'm embarrassed talking about it but I'm worried. Last night my nurse told me to go to the er over the phone because my panties have been damp/wet for the past few days. They put me on the monitor for contractions and I had slight ones but very far apart and hardly noticeable they sent me home saying it was just him kicking my bladder and making it leak. Gross. But to call if my pain/contractions got worse or closer together. Well I've never had them before so I don't know of the pain I've been feeling today is anything to worry about. I'm only 21w5d any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

Thank you everyone! I had my dr app and everything was fine heartbeat strong, his movements have been pretty consistent, and it's definitely not the fluid. They didn't do any more tests since the er did and it was negative. So I'm going to regularly do exercises to try and lessen the leaking

I have been leaking urine since about 17 weeks.  I was worried at first because I thought for sure it was too early for that but my OB checked me and the test came out negative.  I am now 31 w 3 d and am still having the leaking (which does only get worse).  It is very irritating though because you can't help but think is it just urine or amniotic fluid.  Good luck and I hope things go well for you the rest of your pregnancy.

I have 4-5 in an hour it just depends  but I still feel him kicking normally so that makes me think I'm not going to go into labor, but if it keeps up the same as it has I'm going to call just to be safe. I've already had some scares that ended up turning out ok so I'm embarrassed to keep calling but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thank you for all the feedback and advice!! It definitely is comforting

it definitely sounds like braxton hicks contractions. they are meant to prepare and strengthen your body for true labor, but too many of them and you can actually go in labor.

Yea they did some kind of swab when we were there and it came back negative for the amniotic fluid. So she just guessed it was leaking urine. I'm still not quite sure if what I'm feeling is any form of contractions only part of my tummy tenses and it is painful. It doesn't seem to worsen or go away when I walk so that doesn't help. Ugh this is driving me crazy

for clarification, 21 weeks seems early to be leaking urine, not amniotic fluid. leaking amniotic fluid is never okay unless you are full term and are in labor/will be induced.

i was seen in the hospital overnight because my contractions were coming every 3 to 4 minutes...they werent changing my cervix but i was given medicine to stop them because they could start changing it at any time. they did NOT hurt...truth be told i hardly felt some of them.
BH typically only harden portions of your belly, not your whole entire uterus...but i wouldn't go by how painful or hard your stomach gets...i wouldn't even go by whether its in your uterus or your back...i would just go by how many you have, as every pregnancy, labor, and woman is very different. more than 5 in an hour and you need to call your ob.. i was always told that by doctors/nurses.
also make sure you are hydrated..dehydration can cause BH as can a full bladder. if they continue, get up and walk around if you are sitting and sit or lay down if you are walking around. my labor and delivery coach said BH hicks will stop 100% of the time if you follow the above advice, if they do not stop they are far more serious than BH.
as for wetting your underwear, did they check you with a PH stick at the hospital? they should have run the necessary tests to test for amniotic fluid, if they did not, i would be concerned. 21 weeks seems a little early to me to be leaking that much...
ask your OB about it on thursday unless you have problems before then or continue to wet your underwear. mention to him/her if they didn't test the fluid. but if it continues and they did NOT test then i would return to L&D.
PS. amniotic fluid has a very light, sweet smell. urine smells like urine/amonia. it never hurts to smell it next time.

To help with your bladder leakage you could work on Kegel exercises to strengthen everything....the more pregnant you get the worse it could get. Same with afterwards! Look it up...they are way easy to do and probably worth it!

Thanks! It's definitely not what she described so that makes me feel better :) I go to my reg dr on Thursday so only a few more days to wait and see what she says!

You could possibly be having BH (Braxton Hicks) contractions... You will know when you are having real contractions... Your tummy will get really tight and hard, and they will come close together and be very strong. The way my nurse described it with my first son was "You'll know when your in true labor because you will be doubled over in pain and won't be able to talk or breathe through them"... It sounds to me like your body is just preparing for the delivery. It could also be round ligament pains. :D Hope this helps and congrats!
