Trying to conceive found out this month I have polycystic ovaries??

Hello,
I am a college student and 24 years old I will be 25 October 2013. I am engaged to be married in October as well. I stopped my birth control late December i believe in 2012 because me and my fiance decided to start a family of our own. He already has 2 children from previous relationships. I have always had normal paps nothing ever wrong always healthy. No diabetes or thyroid problems. They diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovary syndrome PCOS? 1st time ever hearing of anything wrong with me or my body. It's very scary to me. No one in my family that I know of has ever had such a thing. Doctor put me on Metformin. 500mg 2x daily. I been taking those since April 30th,2013 or May 1st 2013. My body felt like it was lacking something before i started the medicine and now that i am actually on it ..things are starting to feel better in that concept but worse in others. Lots of muscle cramps and pelvic abdominal pain and pains in my legs and back. Can't ever get comfortable. But I am having periods without birthcontrol which is good because I have a history of irregular periods(I was originally put on birthcontrol at age 11years old to regulate my menstrual cycle). I have been doing my basal body temp and staying away from alcohol almost all the time(Not a big drinker anymore anyway since about  3 years ago).. I'm sorry for such a long message, my point is my time I feel has come to start a family and my fiance agrees so this is a planned conception but my question is about the drug Metformin my does 500mg 2x daily..is there any success stories using JUST metformin. I keep hearing about clomid and other drugs and injections used with it sometimes to help even more but I am only on Metformin and would like to know if anyone has gotten pregnant on just using the metformin? If so, how long did it take you to get pregnant?Any helpful tips for a lady who just found out she has polycystic ovaries who is ttc? I would really appreciate the feedback ladies and as I know your not afraid(were women hello we can be very blunt and to the point ;) ) lol just give me straight up answers I will not break trust me but that doesnt mean you have to be rude or anything just not one for sugar coating things I need real truth. =) Also my doctor said I am losing weight rapidly and that the Metformin would make me lose even more weight on top of all the exercsing I have been doing to try and lose the polycystic ovary symptoms of weight gain over the years..I don't eat large portions either so I had no idea how I could have so much weight on me. I'm only 5'3 and let me tell ya my height does not make for a pain free body with all that weight either. But Since last year January 2012 till now May 16,2013  I have lost a lil' under 100 pounds on my own before i just found out this Month that i had polycystic ovaries. Now that you know all the information I really only know so far to tell you I am hopeing you can give me your advice and knowledge from a woman to woman stance. I could really use the support, I am kind of depressed and a little scared not going to lie. Just wondering how long it will take typically to get pregnant and how long it took for you.. or someone you know with the same detail as myself taking Only Metformin.?? If you are still reading this thank you so very much for sticking with me and I hope to hear all of your replies soon. =) ~patiently waiting to be a mommy 1st time~

thank you for your kind words. Wish me luck for baby dust lol i am trying very hard to keep hope and stop stressing. Stressing is not going to help in getting preggers either i know. This is all new to me but i am just glad that i am able to get pregnant but its going to be a lil harder..but challenge accepted ;) and i will keep my head high and trying to have the pitter patter of little feet hopefully soon. =)

Congrats on the weight loss! I had a hunch for awhile that I have PCOS but never diagnosed. I got pregnant in March and during my first ultrasound it was confirmed that I do in fact have PCOS. It does make the chances of getting preggers difficult however it is not impossible. I was not trying to get pregnant in fact I was on BC. Dont give up hope!

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I sure could use someone to talk to. Congrats on your 16 weeks!! I am happy for you =)
In your message I am not sure if you had the twins successfully or not I got a little misunderstood I apologize. With your current pregnancy of 16 weeks how long did it take you from using treatment for the PCOS and actually trying to conceive until you reached a positive pregnancy test? I am on Metformin so I'm a little nervous. I had been reading on different forums on hear of good things and bad things about it. So were you on just Metformin when u got pregnant this recent time? Sorry if I seem a bit anxious lol I am all neves hear lately trying to get my body to feel normal. Very unfamiliar territory just finding the PCOS out. =/
