Trying to concieve tips...

I'm 26 and I was on Birth control for ten years. I went off at the end of December. I have been trying to concieve ever sense. I don't drink, smoke, take drugs of any kind (not even otc's), I take prenatal vitamins as well as baby aspirin every night. I have sex everyday (sometimes every other day) forthe 4 days leading up to ovulation. I take my temp check my cervical mucus and cervical position. I also use pressed instead of any oher lube. Im overweight but i know im ovulating because i use an ovulation predictor kit and watch my temp spike a little bit after the positive test. But still no BFP. It has been 5 months now and I am rounding month 6. I get that is not a huge amount of time but for me wanting a baby for years and finally being able to try it feels like forever. Any tips on how to get pregnant or what I can do to better my odds? I want to be a mother so badly and want to know any thoughts about my situation. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks everyone. This makes me feel better. Just seems like everywhere I read it says that being overweight can be a deal breaker. But it also says that it can cause you to not ovulate and I think I am. So I dont know. I think that if it doesn't happen this month I will try the no calendar and not charting method and see if that works. Just wish it would happen for me. I have fertile friends and they all get preto the first or second time. That's hard to be around. Just want a bfp already. Tired of seeing just 1 line. Baby dust to you all. Thanks again.

I thought I would share my experience with you. I am in my 20s and am overweight too, 188 to give you an idea/range. I have beenvon multiple kinds of bc since my teens. My dh and I decided ttc and I was off the pill 2 months and we are pregnant, we are 6 weeks along. still in sjock, but i wasnt expecting to get preg so quickly so i know we just were relaxed and enjoyed. I honestly dont know the day i even ovulated, we were so lax about it, so dont stress! Enjoy yourself and put the chart away for a few months. Easier said then done, i know. but if you get depressed every period you get its only more stress. take a couple cycles ans expect your period, see how that goes. I wish you the best of luck!!

I know how you feel.  I was on birth control pills for 10 years and came off them November 2009 because DH and I finally felt like we were ready for a baby.  Well alomst 8 months later I still am not pregnant.  I am overweight too and my problem is I don't ovulate regularly.  I went to the OB/GYN about it and she actually thinks it is the birth control pills.  She says it can take a whole year for your body to get normal again after being on the pills for so long.  I thought it was my weight that was the problem, she said it could be but the pills were more likely.  Not sure if that helps you but just wanted you to know that I do know what you are going through.  SSBD to you!!!

The trick for me was stopping all the charting and stressing. I may have been a little bit obsess. Once I did that and just made sure to regularly have sex, I got pregnant!! Best of luck!

I was told it takes 5 months for people to concieve after coming off the pill but they lied to me... Cause I got pregnant straight away apprently LOL...
To me it sounds like you are doing everything you can... Just have sexyy time all the time, just not whilst you're on your period that can be quite messy LOL...
If you havent concieve within a Few months you could see your Doc and they could check you over to make sure you're all hunkydooorey??

I wish you the best of luckk

Thanks. I have a pretty regular cycle lasting from 33 to 35 days. It's encouraging to hear that you are also overweight as I was scared that would affect it. I read it does but that is because it could cause you to not ovulate but I do so I hope it doesn't affect it. I do the whole pillow thing and I also use softcups to help hold it all in. Hopefully it will happen soon. All this trying is kind of exhausting. This is the first time I have ever posted something and I do t necessarily think it's a fertillity problem because my husband and I are both in our 20's, but I also can't say the thought hasn't crossed my mind. Thanks again.

Do you have regular cycles? You should be having sex every other day before on and after ovulation, because even with charting you can still be off on when you ovulate. I am a little overweight as well, and my husband and I tried for three months, stopped for three since we would be moving when the baby was due, and started back and it took six months to conceive. So a total of a year we tried, with the three month break. I'm 24, he's 27 we're both in good health besides me being a little overweight. You only have a 20-25% chance of conceiving any given month. BUT what I suggest you trying, is laying on your back with a pillow under your hips, it may not help you get pregnant but it keeps more of the semen inside you longer. And to RELAX and NOT stress about it. It seems like you do a lot of charting each month, maybe try to give the charting a break for a month. Just have fun. Even if you don't think you're stressing about it you are, you're temping, and charting...it will happen, just give it time. It can take up to a year for a couple in their 20's to conceive. If you're worried something could be wrong, you can alway set up an appointment to see your doctor for a check up, and mention having been trying six months with no luck. The doctor may tell you to give it more time, or may run a few tests to see what can be done.
