I just had my IUD removed this morning. I had the Mirena IUD. Looking for people who have had this and how fast they were able to get pregnant after wards.

I has the mirena removed 21st august 2012. I had it in for 4 years. I want to conceive as soon as possible. the problem is all my periods stopped for the last 2 years . I haven't bled since removing the coil, and have no signs that its coming . has anybody else experienced this? Have anybody else periods stopped and did u still catch pregnant. Also i have no idea of my cycle or when I ovulate . Iv got 3 other children and with all of them i just stopped using contraception and left it to nature to catch and I did very fast with all of them. But I was having periods regular. whereas now Im not having any. Any advice would be great please !!

I had mine in for 18 months after my first.  Removed on 11/14/2007, LMP was 11/23/2007.

After my second I again had it for 18 months.  Removed on 03/05/2010, LMP was 03/08/2010.  Yes that was THREE days!

When I asked the doctor if this is normal she said.  She usually sees the people that get pregnant right away, the first month or two OR those that take over a year.

Update: Still trying. My body still doesn't seem normal. I have lots of clotting , which was never there before.  I am done "trying " for now.  Gonna let things run the course and be more relaxed.

Mirena contains hormones... Once you remove the the Mirena, you remove the hormones.. So it's really all depending on your body...

I have 2 mirena coils in the first for 5 years and then removed and replaced with a new one for just over a year. I had it removed at the end of july waited til I had a period then used fertility sticks and concieved first time. I definately reccommend fertility sticks... you suposedly release an egg on around day 14 of your cycle and I didn't ovulate til day 22.... if we had waited for nature to take it's course we would probably have drawn the conclusion that we were infertile! Maybe it takes a little while for your cycle to settle after the hormones, but we have a beautiful healthy baby boy. good luck. Again, recommend the sticks! (buy a full cycle rather than 10) Sx

Hi, I just had my Mirena removed on the 27th of August, had a bleed for 6 days, which I counted as a period, I know when I ovulate... so we did the BD like crazy and fell preg straight away :-). So in other words I fell preg 2.3 weeks after I had mine removed. Good luck. Lots of baby dust coming your way :-)

I have never had the IUD but I know it will vary from person to person on how long it takes you to get pregnant after removal

I have actually talked to the drug rep before for the company that does Mirena, Yaz and other birth control and he told me that with the Mirena you could have it removed today, go home have sex and become pregnant all in the same month OR it could take up to 6 months before you get pregnant it just depends on your body
