Note to buggie216 the coils create scartissue in your tubes making you unable to ovulate its just as permanent as getting them tied.
I totally agree, after having my 6th child I was at my final app regarding having my tubes done, for some reason the surgeon asked me about a mirena which I had never heard of, I chose that, thank goodness I did as within 1 1/2yrs of getting that in I met my wonderfful husband who had never had any children and we have added to our family 4 times and am in the middle of trying for one last one lol
Sorry sent that before finished. basically they said to me unexpected things can happen and they wanted me to be sure i wouldn't regret it. i have decided not to get them tied. im still so young. I may change my mind.
I have been looking into this too...they have a new way out now where they place a coil/spring looking thing into your tubes and it blocks them...it seems like they could be removed down the line if you wanted more babies...and this is done in the office vaginally so no icky surgery!!!
Im 22 and having my third bub. i too was set on having my tubes tied and drs have said they will do it cause I've had c-sections Everytime but something they asked me to think about was as sad as it would be and as much as u cab never replace a child how would u feel if something dreadful happened to ur bub a few weeks after birth eg sids or something.
Thank u girls for responding :) really helpful for u guys to reply.
Also many women are unaware of side effects of tubal ligation and there are so many available options for long term birth control.
If you still plan on having kids I wouldn't tie them. There are birth control options that will last several years our can be inserted and you can have them for 5 years
your best to treat it as a permanent form of contraception, you shouldnt have them done if your thinking about having more children in the future, you should maybe look at something like the mirena which can be in place for 5 yrs, 21/22 is very young to have your tubes tied
Yes the procedure is reversible but it's expensive and I will be 25 in december and I'm due with my second on june 9th and have already signed my paperwork as well!
You could, it may not work. And if you do you will need IVF which is extremely expensive. If you think you might want more, I would just go on a long term birth control
Truly take your time and do your research. I had my tubes tied at 24 after my 3rd child. 10 years and roughly $10,000 later I had my tubes "untied" and am finally pregnant 8mos after. Feelings and situations change. I wish I hadn't chosen something so permanent and I was so positive I would "NEVER" want another child...
Do u guys think I can untie them when I want to get pregnant again in the future like 7 yrs.?
my mom was trying to ask my ob doctor to tie my tubes and he would not do it because i was at the age of 18. i asked another doctor if it was okay to get my tubes tied and she said it would be okay now that im 20 years old and having my 4th pregnancy but this is my 3rd healthy baby, my last one was a m/c. now
I'm 22 will be 23 in July and am going to have my third daughter on May 3rd and they didn't give me any trouble when I told them I wanted mine tied. I've already signed the paperwork.
