U/s this afternoon. Need to know accurate!!

So I just got back from my u/s today and I know that a u/s is the closes “guess” one can get for the weight. But I really want to know on how accurate the u/s is? I asked my specialist and he said by about a half of pound. Well, I just cant image this……..I had my last u/s 4weeks ago and baby was about 2pounds 12oz Well, today Hunter was…….. 5pounds and 2oz. WHAT! I just cant believe this! My 1st was only 5pounds 13oz! I knew he was going to be a little bigger, but Man……I still had about 7weeks to go!!! How accurate do you think this is?????

I've watched those baby shows where they estimated an 8 lb baby and it came out 5 or 6 lbs and vice versa....It's just a guestimate ....

my sil was told to expect a 5lber and ended with with an almost 9lber so her u/s was not very accurate

Weight estimates are very vague... They can be off by 2 lbs either way... Today they estimated my little man at 7lbs 3 oz... It sounds like your estimate may be a little high or you are having a larger baby... You def. cant go by pregnancy. My sister had a 5lb 6oz baby at 41 weeks and her next one was 9lbs 12 oz at 38 weeks so it really varies... I really would not stress too much... Best of Luck.

I dont thin U/S weight estimations are very accurate, my youngest son was estimated at 6 pounds 9 ounces during a u/s while in labor to make sure baby wasn't breech, anyways when I finally delivered him an hour and a half later he weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces!

They have also tried to tell me that this baby *Conner* is measuring small and that was during my 18w u/s, im now 22w tomorrow and im quite sure he has more than caught up with his weight as I measure 2 to 3 weeks farther than I am.

Id say don't worry about it, it isn't something to ever stress about, if your baby is big then he is big, if he is small then he is small, all that matters is that you have been given the gift of creating a new life, a gift not every woman has.

My best friend is 21 weeks and her baby is measuring almost 1lb 14oz already! My tech told me give or take a few lb(s) and or few oz(s). My last son was 7lbs 1oz when born but at the u/s 3 days prior he was measuing 8lbs 4oz!

They say its just an estimate so not too sure how accurate it is. I'm only 30w3d and I had my u/s last week and they told me she weighed 3lbs 7oz... Now thats big... LOL but I figured she would be since my last 2 were 8lbs 8oz and my son was a month premie and he weighed 6lbs 7oz....
