UPDATE:::I think I finally have an answer to the pre-term labor contractions!!!

I had my appt. today and when I got there I had to use the restroom before my doc checked me. I noticed a bit of watery discharge on my underwear and not just a small area, so when I got to the room I let her know. She checked me and said I am still 1cm with a very soft cervix and baby is still floating. YAY! Nothing has changed there. She then took a swab and checked it out. Thankfully it was not the fluid and I have bacterial vaginosis. No symptoms, no foul odor, nothing!! So I am on an antibiotic for a week. She said that can actually cause pre-term labor! So I wonder if that's what is going on then.

How do you get that anyway? Is it pretty common in pregnancy?

I am still on complete bedrest and still taking the pills every 4 hours now to stop the contractions. I have only had one contraction today and that was just a little while ago. I haven't had any ALL night long!! =)

The OB I am working with now until my midwife can take over again is so wonderful. We don't have insurance and she barely charges me anything for the visits. I am so thankful! I just found out also that she delivered my husband!!! How crazy is that? lol. She is getting ready to retire soon though.

Also, I had a 3D/4D scan booked for next thursday. It's just a fun scan, not medical at all. So I asked her what she thought about it and she told me to cancel with them and come to her office for a 3D/4D scan instead. I can get pictures and everything still, but it will cost MUCH less and she wants to take the baby's measurements as well and make sure he/she is growing properly! (the other place does not do that, as they are just technicians, no certified doctors) yay!  She will also be checking me again next week to make sure things aren't changing. I am guessing I will be seeing her or my midwife every week now until I deliver. They both want me to be able to deliver with my midwife after 36 weeks. I am praying nothing changes.

Today has been a good day for me and I feel really good about everything. Just wanted to update you all!!!

Yea..last night she told me I could, and I think it's had some effect, thankfully. I should by next week how things are looking regarding the infection and all. Hopefully this will be the answer.

Tabitha....yea we'll see what happens! Contractions are picking up again now after not having any all day! ugh. I can't get a break. At least I haven't dilated anymore.
I know...I am so excited about the 3D/4D u/s! I want to see what this baby looks like so I can compare the pics to Jeremiah's. I will be 29 weeks the same time I had it done with my son. haha...I am going to be a GOOD girl and not sneak a peek...but hey..if it just so happens to *pop* up out of nowhere...what can I do?? LOL

Im glad they have some sort of answer for you. Lets hope you finish your meds and it takes care of the problems you have been having. How exciting about the 3D/4D u/s!! I had an u/s at 32 weeks and the tech refused to do a 3D/4D because she said baby was to big to get any good pictures,(cry):( Are you going to try and sneak a peak at the goods?? I would be so tempted!!!

Thanks a ton! I appreciate it. My mom has always had yeast infections and even had one while she was pregnant with my little brother. He ended up with thrush.  I had no signs of anything, so I guess that's why my doc never thought about it.

BV is just the oposite of a yeast infection.  Yeast infection you get more yeast in your vagina and it kills off the good bacteria to keep it balanced and its acidic as hell that's why it irritates, burns and you get discharge (yeast is the stuff that's used in breads so that's why there's soooo much discharge its nasty).
BV is the contrary, more bacteria take over your vagina and the most that it does is that you get horrible stench and sometimes it itches.
Pregnant women have their immune system compromised so your body doesn't react as well to growing bacteria.  Sometimes you get it from the heat it, tight pants, a rough sex night...anything really.
Its just an imbalance in your PH that causes one or the other.  The antibiotic will take care of it.
I'm glad she caught it.  Sometimes something so easy and obvious is overlooked.

Thank you! I'm glad she caught it now. Of course I am still a little worried about things, but feeling much better about it today. Still on bedrest so I don't aggravate anything and cause more problems. I can't wait for my u/s next week!

Well - they aren't sure what causes it, but think it is related to an imbalance of bacteria in you hoo hoo.  It is really important to take the antibiotics, since you are pregnant, so you don't go into pre-term labor.  It all makes sense.

Glad you are feeling better......

Thank you Amy!! I know...it's better than nothing. At least I have SOMETHING that could be causing the contractions. I feel a lot better and I'm glad I had that discharge....otherwise, I'm not sure she would have taken a sample to test it. Everything happens for a reason.
