i m hubby is 28 so we use to get tax credit then he got promoted and now his pay is above £20,000.. we are not eligible for any benefits i think apart from child benefit and thats £20p/w for first child and £13.45 something there after if you have second child... all benefits are only given if you are on JSA/TAX CREDITS/ DISABILITY etc etc..

And you can get it if your partner earns less than 16,000 i think

You only get it if you recieve certain benefits. Once baby is born and the birth is registered you can apply for the £500 maternity grant. You only get it with your first baby

Im affraid as your hubby works you wont get anything out of the jobcentre... your not entitled to anything. and all things like credit union you have to claim a benefit to qualify to even be seen these days... income support or jsa... does your hubby get workin tax credit? And is this your 1st baby?

To be eligible for £500 grant (its not loan)
Usually, to qualify for a Sure Start Maternity Grant there must be no other children in your family and you must get one of these benefits:

Income Support
income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit at a rate higher than the family element
Working Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element

it was from government but they have changed it to £50 now... have a look at the website i have provided... i remember my brother had low income he got £500 and then also paid him extra £250 coz it was his 3rd child.. but they dont do it anymore.. you have to meet certain criteria :)...

I m not sure but i did hear they should give about £250 for baby... i havnt checked books yet.. my dh is working and our household income is £21000pa.. at the moment i m not working at all complete house wife.. he was told he can get paternity leave if he wants to but they will only pay like £50-£60 a week or something like that... so he denied.. instead he is using his own pay holidays..
