Update... Ugh

Well backto the dr yesterday and my cervix continues to shorten-- went from 3.8 to 2.7 and now 2.3.  They put me on a monitor and it was showing numerous contractions (I don't think I felt any of them).  So the dr put me on procardia to stop the contractions.  He wanted to put me on bed rest again adn I pleadedwith him to please let me continue working for now--- alll I do is sit at a desk all day!!  He agreed to let me work and tehn bed rest the rest of the time.  He was very stern!!  I then went to my reg OB (the 1st dr was high risk dr) and she told me if my cervix continues at this rate I will be put on bed rest in the hospital!! OMG!!!  Then she told me not to get upset if they tell me to go to the hospital to get injections for the baby's lungs to develop!! UGH!!!!    Anyone else ever experience a a like situation????   I will be 25 weeks tomorrow!

how is everything going? are you still on procardia? I was taken off of it on Monday, March 31st. and that evening the contractions picked up.. by the next afternoon Tuesday, April 1st- I had a non stress test appt at the hospital and told them when I got there-that I was taken off Procardia the day before and that I thought my contractions had picked up.. They checked me out and I was dilated 6cm...WOW! well that was at 1:20pm and at 4:30pm they broke my water.. and at 6:09pm my little one was born.. His name is Alexander-Dane...I can't believe how quick it happened..any questions,,please feel free to write.. good luck to you ..love, Jeannie

I had pre-term labor and my cervix shortened at 26 weeks. I was put on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. I am happy to say I carried full term. You can probably do the same. Just take it easy and listen to what your Dr says. You might even consider bed rest at this point or even work just part time. I know how it is to need that paycheck week to week, but even sitting at a desk isn't good. Gravity pushes on the cervix, which right now you don't need that. When I was on bed rest the most I could do is go pee or shower. I couldn't even do my own shopping. But it kept the pressure off my cervix and I now have a beautiful 2 1/2 yr old. Good luck with this and remember not to push yourself too hard...

Oh honey, that is really scary and I'm sorry you're going through this! For safety sake, please get the injections and get in bed! Your little one could survive from here on out, but it might be a very difficult start. Good luck!!!

I am going through a similar situation. I began having contractions at 26 weeks and was put on tributeline to stop them. I went to get a u/s done to measure the length of my cervix and it was 3.75 they schudled me a second u/s this Friday to check the length agian. I was put back into the hospital on Friday last week and was having worse contractions. They did discharge me with a high dose of Procartia. 20mg every 4 hours. How much procartia did they put you on.

Hey there again, Noone ever realizes how hard pregnancy can be till you have to go through it yourself,,huh... I was told that no dr can tell for sure how far the cervix is.. I have some drs tell me 2, 2 1/2 , 3...then 2 1/2 again.. I was given injections too--in my toosh for the babys lungs to develop... All I can say is.. after hearing about the contractions showing up and what is happening,, I think it would be smart to get the injections.. I had done some research,, and it is vey common to do...and because you are early yet.. Be as safe as you can me... Just one thing- DO NOT LOOK at the need .. it is big and Does Not Feel Pretty... Good Luck!!
