CMarie81. Yup, I had a fantastic birth with my second child, natural labour 4hrs start to finish with only gas and air and I had only a "slight graze". I'm hoping for a home birth this time round! What a shame they're making you have a section, I was told (and proved!) that it was absolutely not necessary. My midwife was fantastic and held back my daughters head which meant I stretched around the head rather than her burst her way through!

I got induce at 16 because i was having contractions and i wouldnt dialate more then 2 CENTIMETERS was in really bad pain for 8hours without dialating until they induce n I was in pain for 6 hours after that ..and had my baby normal with no epidoral but the pain was really bad..I don't even know how I did it..and 2days ago on the 13of march I was induce @2pm and had my baby yesterday at @338pm in the afternoon so I was in pain for a while till I decided to get the epidoral yesterday at 12pm after being in pain for so long I couldn't take it that was the only reason I got the epidoral shot but I didn't really want to get it but it happen I'm guess Im just one of those girls that have difficulties during labor everyone is different

Aww god induced with all 3 ! lol..
All my friends told me not to bother with a birth plan and I wish I hadn't have now but for some reason I didn't think i'd have to be started ... And I still might not !!! lol.... I'm glad to hear you deliveries went well anyways :).. they will be starting me 10 days over.. if I wasn't such a worry wart ! i would ask to wait until i'm 14 days over.. but due to the slow down in movement I don't think I could wait longer just incase lol x

I was induced with all 3 of my kids the first time it wasnt bad at all the worst pain i felt was him breaking my water but i also got the epidural with all 3 kids the second time sucked cause i tried to wait aslong as i could b4 getting the epidural then when i really wanted it he was busy doing other people so they gave me medicine threw my iv which sucked cause u still felt everything but ur so tired druged u just want to sleep. With my third i still tried to wait a while but i didnt wait aslong as i did with my second. I still felt my contrations with my 3rd so i dont think he did it right but i didnt feel the baby come out so i was greatful. But everyone and time is different. Its crazy i dont even no what to expect with this one. My first i was induced at 38 weeks and 4 days plus he had to be sucked out do to complications my second i was 3 days late and my third i was induced 3 days early.

Oh yeah...on top of no pain meds i had serious tears...i was tearing so bad she cut me to try to minimize the damage...my cervix tore...i had deep lacerations down the walls of my va-jay-jay...it was so bad that two weeks later i had to go in for them to use "silver nitrate" to caterize the wounds...all that being said i didnt really feel that part cuz they will inject a local into your part so you dont feel it...just like the dentist does...dont get me wrong...i was sore and swollen for a LONG time...but...at the time i had no idea all that destruction was going on...even w/out pain meds...so dont let it scare you. you should be able to get in the pool...they only ran my pitosin long enough to get contractions going...they def didnt keep me hooked up...i was on the birthing ball and i was able to still get up and do stuff...

Im so excited for you...C'mon baby!!!

Hey! yeah I watched it last night ! I felt so bad for her it looked horrible!! and painfull.. i'm sure that wasn't the most pleasant of experiences!.. yeah my midwife said that the first stage of inducing is the gel so they are going to try that first.. then it's breaking the waters if it doesn't work and then it/s the drip :/.. when she wass talking about the drip it sounded horrible!.. .... On one born I can't believe how much freaking out the other girl did when she was dilating but when she was actually having the baby she was great! seeing as she wasn't even using the gas and air !.. I would feel so proud if that was me lol.. I hope to god he comes on his own but as it gets closer i am getting less hopeful lol ! x

I was induced first time, it was awful...did you see One Born Every Minute last night? The young girl who wound up in theatre with a forceps delivery? That was me :(  I also had a 3rd degree tear.
If you are induced with the drip, you cant even get up, never mind the water...they strap you down with heartbeat moniters. I'm not a fan of the whole idea of an epidural, but I must admit that if I had to go through labour induced in that way again, I would have one.
There are gel pessaries that they can use. I would imagine that they would allow for a much more natural progression of labour and I would personally kick up a fuss to be given that than having it the other way again, I've never forgiven myself for letting that happen.

hi, i was induced with all 3 of my children so ive never experienced going into labour on my own! the midwife told me induced labour is more painful due to the contractions being forced but as i said i have no idea ll. i had the gel capsules inserted into the neck of my womb and with my first it didn't do much until my 4th lot of the gel and my labour was about 14 hours, with my 2nd i again had the gel but only needed 1 lot, my contractions started almost straight away and my daughter was born 6 hours later and with my last baby again i was given the gel and my labour lasted about 10 hours with a few complications due to his size but without any pain relief. every labour is different but like others have said i did notice that my contractions after being induced were constant and were the same intensity from start to finish, very strong and painful from the beginning but the good thing i found was that each labour took a bit to get started, i was having contractions but not much else was happening, but as soon as i started dilating it progressed really fast! good luck and hope you have a really quick and easy labour and delivery xx

I was sort of induce I believe they call it augmenting labor...They gave me pitocin because I was having contraction but not dilating. I went natural. I got to the hospital at 12am or 1am and had the baby by 6:40. I think after they broke my water was when the contractions got intense and came back to back. But for me I really hate needles so the thought of having to have one in my back I didn't like. I have a high tolerance for pain to me it felt like bad period cramps. It all just depends on your tolerance for pain and that would affect your decision. I didn't want an epidural but I hated that the doctor forced it on me, I was gonna get it just to shut her up. Once the anesthesiologist came in I was dilated to 10. Thank God lol. But I plan on doing it natural again it was a great experience and I just thought one step closer until I see my baby.

i had my son in april of 2009..i was only 18 at the time i was induced 3 days before my due date because my dr thought he was 9 pounds!!( he was only 7lb 1...i was induced at 8am and i had him by 5pm it was probably the worst pain i have ever felt but can honestly say so rewarding in the end!! btw i was 18 only 109lbs wen i got prego i got to 128lbs and i was in labor for 9 hrs with NO pain meds. it is a quick pain that goes away and its not as bad as women make it out to be. u have to give urself credit. i would definatly try with no pain meds its really worth it and in the end u feel better about urself and ur decision.

I wasn't induced but I was given pitocin for stalled labor (long labor, water broken over 24 hours). I asked the nurse turn it down and then off since once it got things going, I went through transition almost right away (or so it seemed) and the pain was overwhelming.  I don't know how common that is (or if she was even supposed to listen to me and turn it off) but I was glad to be off it. I did cave and ask for an epidural but it didn't work/take so I ended up with no relief and I remember going back to bearable from unbearable once the pitocin was stopped.

As for inductions, my sister has had 2 - one that involved going in the night before for cervical ripening and labor started spontaneously overnight as they were waiting for that to happen before starting pitocin. The second, they just went straight to a pitocin drip since they just needed to get contractions going. She did get epidurals with both but told me she thought she would have gotten epidurals even if she had not had pitocin.

I was induced and still had a natural child birth...no pain meds. Its totally doable!! 2bmommyof2 is right though...pitosin created sudden onset of real strong contractions...then once they broke my water there was no break btwn contractions...if you wanna go w/out pain meds...its totally realistic...lots of us do it despite being induced...but there is no shame in needing meds if you choose that road...good luck!!!

p.s. I am so jealous :) ...i wish i was meeting my little one in a few days...but im only 22w!!

I keep hoping when I go to bed I will wake up during the night with contractions and then I wake up with my alarm and i am just like :/ another day ! boo lol x.. thanks for the stories so far good help... did anybody not get an epidural... and can you use the water for just pain relief and not the actual birth cause I know I can't have a water birth if I get induced but can you still use the water before the pushing stage ??

I went to the hospital to be induced at midnight, try started my pitocin at 2am and contractions started at 4. They were pretty intense and then, they broke my water! Once they did that, my contractions DID NOT STOP. There was no in between, trying to get my epidural was horrible because I every time they would get ready to do it another contraction would come on, it'd start going away and they would try again and then BAM I'd get hit with another one. My epidural was a life saver!! Then I ended up having an emergency c-section so I went through all that for no reason! Lol
