My brother's baby was born @ 27 weeks. His girlfriend's water also broke and she delivered only three days from that time. I can only imagine how frightened you are but hopefully this will offer a breath of fresh air. My niece was born weighing only 2.1 lbs but she spent only one month in the hospital and today she is six months old and healthy. May God be with you during this difficult time. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Thank you all for you post. I am at a speciality hospital for high risk pregnancies as well and they are watching me pretty closely. I have a incompetent cervix so I am not really worried about dialating. The one thing I am worried about is the infection setting in. Do you know of any signs other than sore belly and fever? The last scan they did showd no water was left. Even though baby is always making water...I am always leaking water, even laying down.
your water continuesly replenishes itself and i am sure they will keep a close eye on you.
i was sent from my hospital to a special hospital in the middle of the night due to an u;trasound showing no fluid at 26 weeks , when they scaned me the next day the fluid level was fine but he was so low they had to do a transvaginal to measure his head and i was diagnosed with a short cervix and had to remain there on strict bedrest (had the steriods) until 32 weeks....then 4 more weeks of bedrest at home, i was up 2 weeks when i was induced due to placenta deterating (gestational diabetes, insulin controled due to bedrest), now i am holdin y 2 week old baby boy!
ohhh! i hate to hear that! my sis had the same problem with her middle child, they kept her in the hopital for 2 1/2 months on meds...she started getting an infection and in turn they had to induce her labor (was at 6 cm for 2 months) i dont want to scare you or anything but my neice was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 6 months due to a mishap while my sis was in the hospital...they are going through a bunch of issues with malpractice right now! they need to keep a close eye on you...i am praying that everything goes well!!!!!!!
Modesta~ They are right. The more time in there NOT having to expand his tiny lungs the more he can grow because once he's outside, and forced to breathe on his own and forced to eat and stuff... that'll use up calories and energy. My prayers are with you!
They basically told me that the baby would be better off inside than out allowing him time to grow. As long as infection does not set in we both should be fine.
If your water broke so early is it safe to wait another 7 weeks before the baby is born?
