I eat it, but try to span it out, i think of youre 34 weeks along and nothing has happened that you will be alright.
My ob gave me a paper about Listeria it reads:
WHAT IT IS-
A harmful bacteria that can grow in long term refrigerated foods where most other food-borne bacteria do not grow it causes an illness called listeriosis.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS-
*Miscarriage
*Premature delivery
*Infection or death to newborn
HOW TO PREVENT-
*Do not eat hot dogs, luncheon meats or jerky (unless heated until steaming hot. Can cool after heating but eat the same day.)
*Do not eat soft cheese, such as feta, brie, camembert.(unless they're labeled" made with pasteurized milk". Check the label)
*Do not eat pre-made pate, ham, chicken or tuna salad. Use only homemade.
*Do not eat refrigerated smoked seafood, smoked salmon, trout, white fish, cod, tuna,or mackerel, labeled as" nova-style","lox" ,"kippered", or smoked (unless heated.)
*Do not drink raw (unpasteurized) milk or eat foods that contain unpasteurized milk.
I eat the fully cooked ham by deli express. I never heat it up unless its for a breakfast bagel. Ive had no problems with it.. My dr told me the only one you should really worry about is bologna.
u can u just have to heat it up! we are more likely to get sick and infections from the bacteira
I eat it all the time subway homemade subs or just the meat cold I love it
My doctor didn't tell me about it
They warn us to be a little more careful eating lunch meat BC the chance it could possibly have a bacteria called listeria on it. I mean if its important enough for my dr to tell me about then I'm going to listen, i don't think they would tell you something to waist your time.
Listeria can be killed by simply heating up the meat for 10 seconds in the microwave.
Other than the risk of bacteria, lunch meat is perfectly safe to eat :)
You can its suppose to be heated in case of listeria. But that's so rare. Its just a precaution. I think its ridiculous I eat it anyway.
