Is it bad to lose any weight during the third trimester? When I went to the docs last week they weighed me and I just weighed myself today and I am 2 pounds lighter and I even weighed myself after I ate something. My scale and the docs scale have always been the same. I'm a little worried since my lil girl has been measuring pretty small as well this entire pregnancy by about 2-3 weeks. I am almost 31 weeks.
I lost weight in my third trimester.. About 3-5 pounds, doc was not concerned said he actually saw it happen quite often... Our metabolism is going like crazy and sometimes we are burning off the food we take in faster than we realize. He said tho he did not want to see it keep going down.. I am sure u are just fine.
Well I actually have lost 30 lbs since I found out I was pregnant back in Dec granted I had gastric bypass surgery in july of 2010 which has played a big role in my wieght loss ( I started my journey at close to 400 pds in 2010 ). My dr has never seemed to worried by my weight loss given my history. They just montior me closer and that was before the whole preterm labor bedrest thing.
I wouldn't worry to much. My pregnancy before this one my whole last trimester I kept bouncing between loosing two and gaining two.
I guess I will bring it up at my appt. on friday. In the first and second trimester of this pregnancy, I lost 16 pounds from vomiting so much and the gained it back plus about 10 pounds and now lost a couple. Being on bedrest, I didn't think I would actually lose any weight but thought I would gain like crazy! lol I'm not complaining about it, since I started about 20-25lbs over weight in this pregnancy anyway, but I am concerned because baby seems to be measuring small. I eat really well too, lots of protein, not too much junk food. Just hoping it's okay. I suppose if my weight were to keep going down, that's when it's probably cause for concern. I just worry too much!!!
A lot of women lose weight in the first and third trimesters becuase they aren't able to eat as much. I never put a lot of stock in weight gain/loss, I worry more about fluid level and baby's size. Your weight is going to vary depending on water retention, when the last time you had a bowel movement was, how recently you ate, etc. It could be your body has shed water weight. Just talk to your doc and see what he/she says :)
I lost weight around 30 weeks with Bella and remember she was measuring smaller too. I just stepped up the eating from 5 times a day to 6 and we both put the weight back on. I also think girls are just smaller sometimes. As if you didn't have enough to worry about ;-) I'm sure you'll put a few pounds back on in the near future.
Thanks! I feel like I've been eating a LOT lately, that's why I was surprised. haha I eat little bits all day long, but yea, my midwife said that same thing, that girls tend to be smaller and that could be why I'm measuring behind. BUT I sure wasn't a small baby! lol I was a week early and 9lbs 4oz. So who knows! I will definitely ask on friday though when I see my midwife.
