Weird periods.

Hey everyone I am asking this question regarding my girlfriends problems she has been having lately. She usually has her period between the 20th-30th every month. She didnt have hers in august because she had just had her gallbladder removed im thinking, but had some weird things start to happen in early september. She thought she was having a period around the 8th of september but she said it was just spotting. I picked up a preg. test and it said negative. Spotted still went on for two more weeks. I bought nother preg. test on the 23rd and still negative. Spotting is still occuring. Some days its black and some days its red. We got another test on Oct 1st. Still neg. What could this be? Is there an infection she has or something?  Thank you all for the help.

davesbgrdtruck - I wouldn't be too worried. When I had my gallbladder out last year, it took about 2-3 months to get my cycle back to normal. She did have major surgery (even if they call it minor). There are so many things that are affected after the surgery such as digestion and (sorry if TMI) but bowel movements. While her body adjusts to these changes, she will experience irregularity with her cycle. My doc told me to go ahead and count the spotting as a period because it was usually consistent and lasted longer than a day or two. If this spotting problem has been occuring since her surgery, I recommend going to the Dr. that performed her surgery!

Surely she must have been scheduled for a follow up post-operative appointment? I would be concerned at this point and definitely think she needs medical attention to get to the bottom of why this happening!?

Has she had pain with the spotting?
